Role of the RWCU

• The RWCU has two primary functions
• Claim management, and
• Injury Prevention.

Claim Management

• Early intervention
• Co-ordination of the RTW process (where
  appropriate).
• Advise and assistance with Claiming Workers
  Compensation.

Injury Prevention

• Early Intervention
• Review Pre-Employment Medical Questionnaires.
• Work place audits.
• Preventative training course ie Manual Handling
  and OSLO training.

Role of the RACLO

• The RACLO has three main Functions
• To Facilitate early intervention.
• To assist with claim related administration
• To act as an important communication link.

Early intervention

• When an injury occurs the RACLO and supervisor
  should be the first point of contact.
• Early intervention is the next best thing to
  prevention.

Early Intervention

• The RACLO should direct and where appropriate
  assist the injured worker to
• Submit an Injury Notification.
• Fill in a hazard near miss report.
• See a Doctor.
• Get in touch with the RWC Unit.
• Inform their supervisor.

Administration

• The RACLO is responsible for
• Helping the injured person complete the claim
  related paperwork.
• Ensuring the claim is appropriately filled in
  and signed off by themselves and Area management
• Returning the claim to to the RWCU within the
  timelines set by Comcare.

Communication

• In an Organisation as big as the ANU it is vital
  to have local knowledge. From a RWC point of view
  you as RACLOs provide that knowledge

• - The Area
• - The RWCU, and
• - The injured employee

• RACLOs have the Local knowledge.
• They are the obvious point of contact for issues
  relating to injury/compensation.

• Most direct means for distributing RWC
  information to the areas.
• RACLOs are the RWCU Eyes and ears.
• RACLOs provide useful feedback on RWC related
  issues

• The area is kept up to date with whats going on
  with claims and injuries.
• The RWCU is used as a resource when dealing with
  injured/sick employees.

Benefits to the RACLOs

• The network provides opportunity for RACLOs to
  compare notes on common problems / equipment etc
• Regular meetings provides RACLOs with up to date
  information ie medicals, legislation, injury
  prevention etc
