Step 1 Set the Standard

    the training?

  • Evaluate or have a plan to evaluate (outlining
    how, when, who and what will be evaluated) if
    your RTW program is working or not
  • If you used your RTW program, evaluate it on a
    case by case basis by
  • Asking injured worker and/or supervisors for
    feedback
  • Spot-check to verify the paperwork is completed
    based on the standard
  • Complete statistical analysis to prior years re
    amount of days lost, costs, etc.
  • Other methods
  • If you have not used your RTW program because of
    no claims, evaluate its potential use by
  • Assessing awareness and understanding using a
    quiz or survey
  • Request your JHSC and/or management to complete
    an objective review

  • ? Do you have a written plan to evaluate? Who
    will do the evaluation?
  • ? Are you doing what you said you were going to
    do in your written standard?
  • ? Have you been maintaining good records to
    assist with evaluation?
  • ? Can you compare actual health safety
    activities to the standards and expectations
  • o Has health safety awareness improved in your
    workplace (show/anecdote)?
  • o Has employee participation in health safety
    increased (show/anecdote)?
  • o Have accidents/claims decreased?
  • ? Check that standards themselves are still
    current and appropriate
