Believe in yourself

• You were picked for that position for a reason.
• You are capable of running a school.
• Be confident in your decisions, and stay
  consistent with the decisions you make.

Build a support system

• Find people that know your job and confide in
  them.
• Find you a mentor, and work closely with them on
  the things you would like to work on, or do the
  year.
• Build a team outside of the job, some people that
  you can trust to talk to.

Beliefs

• Everyone has the right to be treated with dignity
  and respect.
• Make decisions based on what is in the best
  interest of kids.
• How does this decision impact student
  achievement.
• Discipline with dignity.

School Operations

• Delegate, Delegate, Delegate
• You can not do it all by yourself.
• Use the people around you to make the building
  better.
• Build those people up to become leaders in the
  building.
• Let those teachers have a say on things and they
  will.

Know Your School

• Look at the TWC survey to see or get a feel for
  the school culture in the building.
• Look at your SIT plan, and see the things
  implemented, or things that need to be
  implemented.
• Find your custodian, and cafeteria workers. They
  know everything.

Helpful Tips

• Take 100 responsibility for your life
• Live your life on purpose
• Be willing to pay the price
• Stay focused
• Become an expert in your field (never stop
  learning)
• Write out a plan for achieving your goals
• Never Give up
• Dont Delay
