Audit Optimization Subscriber Quality of
Experience (SQoE)
Carrier Performance Benchmark What is the
impatience level of your subscribers? The Carrier
Performance Benchmark is the first in a series of
three offerings grouped in the Subscriber Quality
of Experience (SQoE) Suite of services. The
benchmark provides an industry first picture of
the actual subscriber experience on wireless data
networks. A number of Quality of Experience
metrics are used to characterize the performances
of key wireless applications as actually
perceived by the subscriber population and
provide insight into network performance from the
subscriber perspective. Nortel is the first to
market with this unique analysis of twenty-five
key subscriber metrics. These metrics are
developed from actual subscriber data from the
Carriers network to characterize the Subscriber
Quality of Experience. They are grouped and
ordered in the benchmarking report. Large
participation of the most important carriers
worldwide provide a unique vision of the overall
industry performances and give each participant
the targets to focus on. Drill-down capabilities
allow to directly link the performance actually
perceived to precisely identified technical
issues. Personalized reports allow each
participant to prepare first optimization
actions. As a typical example of Nortels
patent-pending technology, Nortel has
characterized the subscriber impatience level
during WAP browsing which graphically depicts the
subscribers impatience as a curve characterized
by download cancellation versus download time for
all WAP pages. With the example carrier below,
20 of the time, the page download is interrupted
after approximately eight seconds. After 20
seconds, the download is interrupted nearly 40
of the time. This powerful insight into the
subscribers impatience level can be used to
improve the overall quality of experience
resulting in increased data usage, higher ARPU,
and potential reduction in subscriber churn.
