11What is Structured Workplace Learning (SWL) ?
- Structured Workplace Learning, (SWL), is on the
job training where a student is expected to
master a set of skills or competencies, related
to a course accredited by the Victorian
Qualifications Authority, (VCA). These courses
are generally part of VET programs undertaken
within the VCE or VCAL.

13Career and Transition Support (CTS)
- Plans and supports services to assist young
people to make successful transitions - Facilitates access for young people to a range of
career and transition support services - Links with and complements existing programmes
and services

- Facilitate the provision of assistance to young
people to develop individual transition plans and
understand study and work options - Facilitate access to professional career advice
- Promote vocational education and training
pathways and opportunities - Enhance monitoring and mentoring arrangements of
all young people, particularly Year 9 and 10
students - Facilitate the engagement of parents, teachers
and career advisors in education about post
school options - Facilitate the provision of advice on youth
services and programmes

17What is the Youth Options Guarantee?
- All young people in the Grampians Region will be
supported to complete Year 12 or its
equivalent, the acknowledged minimum education
required for active participation in life and
work in the 21st century - The Youth Options Guarantee will establish and
support referral networks to ensure that young
people at risk are identified and young people
are provided a pathway through education and to
employment and further training.
18The Working Model for the Youth Options Guarantee
Student Transition Teams (Pathways teams) in
Schools A team convened within each member
school accountable for addressing the needs of
individual students, identified as at risk of
early leaving. Each team will be supported by
the LLEN /LCP. Skills Pathways Team A team
convened by the LLEN/LCP comprising employers,
schools, TAFE and other stakeholders providing
direction to initiatives which will improve job
and training pathways for young
people. Out-of-School Options Team A team
convened by CGLLEN comprising stakeholders
responsible for the delivery of out-of-school
options such as Community VCAL and
Link-Up. Community Team A team convened by the
PCP for coordinating inter-agency service
delivery to best meet the education, health and
welfare needs of individual young people who have
left school early.
