1st Reading

• This is a messianic vision of the coming Messiah
  who is holy and just. Then the People of God
  dwelling in the New Jerusalem will be secure from
  all harm.

2nd Reading

• St. Paul encourages all of us to be diligent in
  preparing for the Coming of Christ. By doing the
  following
• Mutual brotherly love among all.
• Deep, interior holiness

Gospel

• Jesus talks about the end times He describes in
  figurative and apocalyptic language the signs
  preceding it. This will all lead to Christs
  final and glorious triumphant return. On our
  part, we must always be vigilant and prayerful.

• Advent comes from Latin which means the coming
  or the arrival.
• In our Church liturgy, its the preparation for
  the 2nd coming of Christ and the preparation for
  the celebration of the 1st coming of Christ.

• In this first Sunday of Advent, our main focus is
  our preparation for the 2nd Coming of Christ.
• Are we vigilant enough?
• Are we ready enough?
• Are we prayerful enough?
• Were sure its coming, but we just dont know
  when?
