Background

• D.N.A. is short for deoxyribonucleic acid. DNA
  is contained in human cells, and animal cells, as
  well as plant cells within the nucleus. Each DNA
  molecule within the cells of your body are the
  same, and code for the genes which make us who we
  are, from how our bodies work, to how we look.
  This is the same for plants. Today we will be
  isolating the DNA from some spinach and some
  onion.

Objective

• Each student will extract DNA from onions.
  Students will make and record observations and
  complete analysis questions.

• Make some observations after adding
  detergent/salt mixture and the hot water and ice
  baths.
