2Update
- Since my return on June 25th, things have been
very busy here. Please except my apology for not
writing sooner. - I want to thank everyone who extended their
support to BASICS during my visit and continued
to do so after my departure.
3A special thank you to my various hosts, whom
opened their homes and invited me to share the
story of BASICS. I was able to travel to Boston,
Virginia, Washington, Maryland, The Catskills,
and of course my home town, New York City.
Another special thank you to the Churches, who
also invited me to speak to their congregations.
Because of ALL of you, BASICS was able to
secure sponsorship for over 100 additional
children for the 2005- 2006 academic year. This
will bring our sponsor- ship to 400 children,
providing all former sponsors renew their
commitment. PLEASE NOTE All those who made a
donation ( Jan 2005- to date) to sponsor a
child, for the 2005- 2005 Academic Year. We
are NOW completing registration ( school Reopened
Sept 15th, however shortly after, teachers went
on strike and just resumed last week) . ALL
SPONSORS will be assigned a children very soon, a
biography and photograph will be sent our shortly
after. I ask you to please exercise patience,
while I am dealing with this Very large
administrative task alone. I want to say, its
because of ALL of you, BASICS was able to secure
financial support to move into our new home,
which will serve as a Multi Purpose
Center. Nanas House, will serve as a Library,
After School Center, Adult Literacy Center and
Breakfast Program. The center will FILL the gaps,
that have played a major role in hindering the
growth Of our children in sponsorship program.
After years of observing the sponsorship program
and feeling as if it was not Enough, I realized
that WE must DO MORE.
4 Our goal has been to remove all children off the
streets who are part of child labor, trafficking
or illiteracy, and educate each and every one of
them. This may appear to be a great goal and
accomplishment, but everything has a price to
pay. Most of these children were bread winners
of their families, and taking them away from the
streets has caused loss of incomes in most homes.
Families are not prepared to bear the
additional expenses involved in sending their
children to school, such as breakfast, or lunch.
This set back will effect the child in many ways.
Either he/she will be forced to quit school and
return to work, or go to school hungry. The new
center Nanas House will be a safe place
where our children will come everyday, to
receive one balanced meal. Children will be
provided a venue, where they can do their
homework, under supervision. Children will have
access to books in our new library, and access to
computers in our Computer Lab. Nanas House,
will be a second home for our children. A place
where they will get Love, Guidance, Support,
Safety, and Nourishment and GODS LOVE most of
all. Everyday, I am looking at ways to improve
the lives of the children we are sponsoring. It
is through prayer and support that we are able to
increase our visibility and assistance in the
community. I pray you will continue both.
5As you enjoy the next few slides, please think Of
ways you would like to increase your level
of Support. Perhaps, GOD is calling you to visit
Ghana, and support us hands on. If so, Please
let me hear from you. I welcome groups as well
as individuals. WE are also looking for
volunteers in the United States, who can help in
the Following categories Fundraising Newsletter
