Title: An Interactive Multimedia Intelligent Tutoring System

1
An Interactive Multimedia Intelligent Tutoring
System
  • Brian P. Butz
  • Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering
  • Temple University
  • Philadelphia, PA 19122-6077
  • June 21, 2000

2
Project GoalsOriginal IMITS
  • Create a system which acts as a students
    individual tutor
  • Develop an intelligent tutoring system framework
upon which other tutoring systems may be
    structured
  • PLUSThe student should have complete freedom of
choice how to solve the problem.
  • The expert system does not control the student

3
Project GoalsExtended IMITS
  • Apply the IMITS Prototype to four courses
  • Incorporate the Virtual Laboratory into the
    finished product
  • Beta-Test Software at 6-10 Universities and
    Community Colleges
  • Evaluate and Modify Package
  • Distribute Nationally at the End of the Project
