• What attracted you most to LAHIDAN?
• What values and strengths do Latino and Hispanic
  dietitians bring to ADA, other healthcare
  professionals, consumers and manufacturers?
• If you could wave a magic wand today and make a
  wish that would make LAHIDAN a thriving
  organization for the next five years, what would
  that wish be?

• Have one person capture the answers.
• Take five minutes and share your answers with
  the others group

Integrating your desires with organizational
initiatives

• Taking a look at your conversation and the
  organization initiatives, consider those
  initiatives that create the most energy and
  passion for you.
• You will have three votes and can vote for one
  initiative three times or three different
  initiatives.

Mission

• The purpose of this Association shall be to
  celebrate Latino culture,
• support member needs and foster the development
  and improvement
• of food, nutrition and health care for Hispanics
  and their families in
• the United States.

INITIATIVES

• a.  To lead in the planning, implementation and
  evaluation of food, nutrition and health service
  delivery to Latino communities
• b.  To promote professional practice, research
  and educational advancement
• c. To promote cultural competency of non-member
  food, nutrition and health professionals
• d.  To strengthen the influence of the
  Association on professionals organizations,
  policy makers, government and other identified
  entities through coordinated action
• e.  Highlight the contributions of member
  dietetic professionals with significant
  contributions to the Association and profession
• f. To support leadership development and promote
  member service utilization
• g. To identify, mentor and support promising
  future Latino dietetic professionals
• h.  To maintain a national resource directory of
  food and health professionals and those
  interested in supporting the organizations mission

Focusing our Passion

• Develop the tactical strategy around 2-3
  initiative.
• First consider the impact you want from the
  initiative then work backwards.
• Once you have visualized the impact you want from
  the initiative consider the tactical steps that
  will need to be made to achieve your desired
  impact a reality.
• Who will be responsible for the executing? What
  resources will be needed to make the initiative a
  success?
• How will you know when you have succeed? What
  measure or tools will help guide you?
