What is Video Conferencing
  • Form of streaming technology
  • Streaming media technology is the simultaneous
transfer of digital media (video, voice and data)
so that it is received as a continuous real-time
    stream.
  • This technology enables the real time or on
demand distribution of audio, video and
    multimedia on the Internet

  • MSNBC and ABC quickly adopted this new technology
    and began re-broadcasting current television
    content on the web
  • Approximately 80 of home Internet users have
installed streaming media players on their

Technology Evaluation Template
Criteria to be evaluated
  • Cost to implement - important because we need to
know how much cash to set aside for the
technology, especially if it is a significant
    cash outlay
  • Time to implement - significant factor because it
is time we take away from other activities, and
    put it into the technology
  • Benefits received benefit analysis to probe the
technology to see if it adds value to the company
( by exceeding the cost of implementation) or not
  • Limitations the number of obstacles that will
make implementation difficult / longer as they
play an important aspect of the decision
  • Payback period how long will it take will this
technology to pay for itself (in terms of
    cost-savings)
