Title: Islam and Justice

1
Islam and Justice
  • Choose one religion other than Christianity and
outline its attitudes to justice. (6)

2
Islam Justice (1)
  • Muslims believe that God is a just God who will
reward the good and punish the bad on the Last
    Day ((judgement day).
  • Muslims believe it is part of their role as
vice-gerents of Gods creation to behave justly
to other people and to ensure the world is
    governed in a fair way.

3
Islam Justice (2)
  • For Islam the way to do this is to follow the
    Shariah law.
  • Muslims believe that all people should have equal
rights before the law and that Muslims should
work for a fairer sharing of the earths
resources. The pillar of zakah and the work of
such groups as Muslim Aid and Muslim Relief are
all trying to bring justice to the world.

  • For Islam the way to do this is to follow the
    Shariah law.
  • Muslims believe that all people should have equal
rights before the law ( no one is above the law)
and that everyone should be treated fairly by the
law and courts should not operate in secret and
punishments should be publicly witnessed to
ensure justice is done and seen to be done.
  • Muslims should work for a fairer sharing of the
earths resources. The pillar of Zakah (charity)
and the work of such groups as Muslim Aid and
Muslim Relief are all trying to bring justice to
    the world. Slide 2

Christianity to justice. (8)
  • Due to their belief in justice Muslims believe
that it wrong to practice usury the charging of
interest. They believe this is unjust as it takes
money from the poor and gives it to the rich. In
a just society the fair thing to do would be to
take money from the rich and give it to the poor.
