Schedule

• October/ Introduction letter, getting to know
  each other
• November/ The history of our school, a group
  photograph/ guessing who is who
• December/ Czech Christmas traditions, asking
  parents about their Christmas and comparing them
  with the present ones. Then comparing Czech and
  Greek Christmas. Sending Christmas cards by snail
  mail.
• January/ History of our town/ collecting
  information, sending pictures, visiting local
  museum- filling some tasks in the museum
• February/ break, Czech holidays for one week,
  competitions from other subjects in the region of
  the town
• March/ A history quiz about the Czech Republic,
  each student will get different questions and if
  they find all the information, they will know a
  lot about the friends country. Making a poster
  of the country- a group work
• April/ Czech Easter, Easter cards by snail mail,
  making a video about the town
• Personal visit of the Greek students in Ceska Lipa

Our schools

• Our school is the 9th High School of Kalamaria.
  It is located in the east part of Thessaloniki,
  which is the 2nd city of Greece. In our school
  there are 350 students (girls, boys aged 13-15)
  and 50 teachers. The students study in 3 grades
  (1st, 2nd, 3rd) and 14 classes.

Our schools

• Our school is situated in the north of the Czech
  Republic. There are about 600 students and 40
  teachers. Students come to our school at the age
  of 11 or at the age of 15. Since 2005 the school
  has been divided into two separate schools. Our

Geography and History

• In the next part of the project students made
  questions about their countries and both sides
  had to study about friends place. It was not
  difficult with the help of the school subjects
  and the Internet.
• The most important thing was to find some
  similarities such as two brothers Cyril and
  Methodus who came from Thessaloniki and who were
  so important for our language.

Where to go

• In Ceská Lípa there are many interesting
  places.We have one theatre called Jiráskovo.This
  theatre plays comedies,fairy-tales and many other
  everyday.We have two libraries. The first library
  is in the centre of town.The second library is in
  the north of the town. In these libraries people
  can borrow many books.Our town has one cinema
  called Kino Crystal.In ths cinema people can
  watch many films everyday.In the same building
  there is a cultural hall.We have many disco
  places.First disco place was called LUXOR.This
  disco place was near the railway station
  Strelnice.This disco place was burned.The second
  disco place was called CENTRAL.This disco place
  was burned,too.In the past young people danced
  every night.This is something of our interesting

OUR WALK

• We started our walk in front of our school and
  then we went to the park where one of the
  students spoke about the history of this place.
  It was a very hot day.

Decision

• Our Greek friends arrived in April for a short
  visit to our school. It was a big event for the
  whole school. There was a concert for the guests,
  an English tour guide in the town, visiting
  important places such as Terezin, Novy Bor and
  Liberec ZOO. It was the most beautiful part of
  the project.
