What is it?
  • Elivate International is an exciting one-year
opportunity to combine applied theological study
with practical ministry experience in the UK.

3
The year includes
  • Three terms of academic study at College plus
Christmas, Easter and Summer vacation activities
as well as giving you an opportunity to spend
    time traveling around the country.

4
It also includes
  • A specific two week long mission overseas in
Europe and lots of varied opportunities to widen
your ministry experience both in the local
community, and in the local church.

5
You will be involved in
  • One day a week doing lecture-based study at
Moorlands College, and up to four days a week in
a local church, becoming part of their church
family and using your gifts to serve God.
  • In addition, you will have two one week
    residential study weeks.

6
What will I be studying ?
  • Elivate International is one of the range of
Applied Theology courses offered by Moorlands
College. Like all our courses, its designed to
equip Christians to express their faith and
    impact the world.

7
The study modules are
  • Biblical Studies
  • Personal and Spiritual Development
  • Ministry - Theory and Practice
  • Placement

8
Biblical Studies
  • This module enables students to acquire
strategies for reading the Bible. The module has
three main sections understanding the historical
setting of the Bible, gaining an appreciation for
reading and interpreting the different biblical
genres, and developing an awareness of specific
    canonical themes.

9
Personal and Spiritual Development
  • This module is designed to support students in
their personal and spiritual development. It
aims to explore the overall theme of discipleship
with an emphasis on the Christians identity, to
start to develop reflective practitioners who
take an active responsibility for their own
learning and to introduce principles of teamwork
    and leadership.

10
Ministry - Theory and Practice
  • The module will introduce students to some of the
biblical and theoretical principles that underpin
key areas of Christian Ministry. Students will
explore models for Christian Ministry and reflect
on their strengths and weaknesses in real,
    practical contexts. Critical and analytical
reflection will be a key feature of the study of
these areas with a continual emphasis on relating
theory to practice and their own ministry within
    their placement.

11
Placement
  • Students will be placed within a local church or
organisation. This will be an opportunity to
work out in practice some of the theoretical
material taught in other modules. The emphasis
will be on working within a team, developing
practical experience and on becoming a reflective
practitioner. The placement is an opportunity to
apply theory in real contexts and to critically
analyse a range of experiences, issues and events
in relation to material taught in other modules.

12
Where will I live?
  • You will either live on campus at Moorlands or
with a host family in your placement church and
throughout the year you will be fully involved in
College life and all aspects of its community.

13

beautiful New Forest, as well as some of the UKs
finest beaches. It is also positioned to offer
quick and regular bus and rail travel into London.
