Smart Payment Cards

• A bank acts as primary issuer of a card and
  typically instantiates a credit limit.
• A company or institution may wish to impose their
  own custom polices on an individual who has been
  issued a card.
• Problem Going through the bank for each policy
  is a bottleneck.
• Solution Allow for delegation of control.

• Suppose we are given two policies

  solutions.

Concrete plan

• Implement our payment card architecture using
  Oberthur Cosmopolic Java Cards.
• Leverage existing implementation (Doch) of Secure
  Electronic Transaction (SET) for handling
  payments.
• Implement refinement architecture within the
  framework of Hermes model checking tool.
