- We are first introduced to the idea of the
Godhead in the beginning. - Gen. 126, Then God said, Let Us make man in
Our own image - GodElohiym Plural of El exceeding, great,
majestyGod. - Therefore, God (plural) said Us.
- The plural is often used to emphasize majesty,
but in reference to God there is more to it.

- John 11 Parallels Gen. 1.
- In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was
with God, and the Word was God. - It shows God as including more than one person.
- The Word was both with God and He Himself was
God. - As God, the Word was the prime agent in the

- This plurality of persons is not unique to the
New Testament. - Isa. 446 the Lord the King of Israel, and His
Redeemer, the Lord of Hostsbeside Me there is no
God. - Isa. 4424 the Lord, your Redeemer, and He who
formed you from the womb, I am the Lord, who
makes all things - Isa. 4813, 16 My hand has laid the foundation

If there are three, how can they be one God?
- Deut. 64 Jehovah our God is one Jehovah (ASV).
- Jehovah is self-existant, eternal i.e. I AM.
- God is elohim (plural as in Gen. 126)
- One is echad one or unified.
- Gen. 15 morning and evening make one day.
- Gen. 224 two become one flesh.
- Judges 208 people arose as one man.

If there are three, how can they be one God?
Just as a man and a woman make one flesh, the
Godhead is one eternal God.
Just as a morning and an evening make up one day,
the Godhead is one eternal God.

The Godhead forms a united one. The Father and
the Son
- John 1030 I and My Father are one.
- John 530 I do not seek to do My own will but
the will of the Father who sent Me. - John 638 I have come down from heaven, not to
do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me. - John 1250 whatever I speak, just as the
Father has told Me, so I speak. - John 1722 That they may be one just as We are
one.

The Godhead forms a united one. The Son and the
Holy Spirit
- John 1426 He will teach you all things, and
bring to your remembrance all things that I said
to you. - John 1614 He will glorify Me, for He will take
of what is Mine and declare it to you. - Rom. 826 They work together to make
intercession for us.

The Godhead forms a united one. All Three
- Matt. 2819 All three persons bear the same
authority. - In the name of means by their authority.
- Acts 238 In the name of Jesus Christ carried
the same weight as all three persons. - John 1614-15 They are unified in will and
purpose. - 1 Cor. 210 The Holy Spirit reveals the deep
things of Godalso referred to as the mind of
Christ (216).
