rules BRS RuleTrack supports. - All information about each rule is optional,
except for the basic Rule Statement. - To use RuleTrack effectively, your organization
should decide which types of information you need
to maintain. - Tour tip Read the heading at the top of each
slide for the area of support in RuleTrack that
the screen snap illustrates.

specify their properties and links. Manage your
business terms interactively. Archive old
versions. Six Questions Define elements of the
business and systems context that can be linked
to your business rules. Maintain Types Manage
current valid values for type data, including
extensive predefined categories. Produce
Reports Trace your business rules based on
user-selected filtering criteria.

Specify the rule. You may give a name and alias
for the rule. Select topic(s) the rule pertains
to.

Control the vocabulary used by the
rule. RuleTrack identifies predefined standard
terms in green text. If you approve the usage,
the term will appear in red text. These buttons
invoke the RuleTrack vocabulary tools. Copy the
Rule statement.

Define new terms dynamically,if desired. Enter
your definition while still specifying the rule.

Specify milestones for the rule. Identify
specification date, activation date and
deactivation date, if any, for the rule. Specify
the current status of the rule. Use RuleTracks
calendar feature for dates.

Categorize the rule. Select the categories that
apply to the rule. Use RuleTracks pre-defined
values, or define your own.

Track how your rules relate to one
another. Relate rules to each other in many ways
(e.g., replaces, exception to, conflicts with,
subsumes, interpreted by, etc.)

Evaluate the rule. Select the evaluations that
apply to the rule.

The Rule Statement Worksheet allows you to
draft multiple Rule Statements and then commit
(create) those Rule Statements marked as
complete. Rule Statements that are not committed
will remain on the Worksheet. Copy, paste and
delete Worksheet Rule Statements.

Select Maintain Types to review or modify
standard RuleTrack codes. Select RuleTrack type
field. Review standard valid values for the type
field. Add a new valid value, or modify or
delete an existing valid value.

Select Produce Reports to generate RuleTrack
reports. RuleTrack provides several pre-defined
reports. Report filter criteria allows you to
easily control the contents.
29Additional RuleTrack Capabilities Preferences
Select Preferences to display or hide RuleTrack
menu items. For example, you may decide to hide
menu items for business rule aspects that are not
currently being addressed.
