5Vehicles Fleet Methodology outline
- Data provided by CIDE Foundation and DETRAN-RJ
were used
Data already available per -
Municipalities - Model year -
Fuel (14 categories) - Vehicles
categories (19 categories)
grouped categories
- Project split
- 4 main categories of vehicles
- Cars, vans, trucks and buses, 2Ws
- 4 categories of fuels
- gasolina, alcohol, diesel, natural gas
6Vehicles Fleet Some Provisions, .
The CIDE / DETRAN RJ statistics reflect the
WHOLE Fleet . However, the whole Fleet includes
- static fleet ( do the vehicles still exist
? ) - running fleet ( really used ! ) For the
Road Transport Emission Inventory, the fully ()
detailed knowledge of the running fleet is
absolutely required how to address this issue
? () all the various vehicle categories, for
all the fuel types, all the age classes
( model year ) and all the Municipalities
7Vehicles Fleet - Results Number of vehicles per
fuel type
Data CIDE Foundation DETRAN-RJ
Whole fleet 2,212,700 Vehicles
8Vehicles Fleet - Results Number of vehicles per
vehicle category

13Mileage per vehicles Methodology proposed
- Determination of the fuel consumption -
Corresponding to the studied area - - For the reference year (2000)
- - Split per vehicle category
- - Split per type of fuel
- Relevent data ( specific consumption ) for
each category of vehicle - and on each road classes
Estimation / Calculation of an annual average
mileage per category of vehicle
14Mileage per vehicles Input Data
- Fuel consumption over the 15 Municipalities (year
2000)
GN () Estimated volume (calculated for 200
bars pressure)
- Vehicles fleet per category and fuel type

20Main Outcomes
- Conclusions
- According to the ( CIDE / DETRAN RJ ) data,
- the Cars and the VANs represent the largest
population ( 90 ) - the car fleet is pretty old gt 50 are older
than 9 years - the VAN fleet is also quite old gt 40 are
older than 9 years -
- Diesel fuel ( poor quality ) represents the most
used fuel by the fleet, mainly used on - - Heavy Duty Trucks and
- - Buses
