SEIU Local 1000 Election

• Every member will be mailed a ballot package
  using First-Class Mail by April 20.
• The member addresses will be processed through
  the Postal Service address update software to
  correct the addresses of any members who have
  moved but not updated their change with Local
  1000.

• Every member will be assigned a unique control
  number that will be printed on their ballot
  return envelope.
• The control number will assure that no member can
  vote twice. It will be recorded when the ballot
  envelope is received at the election office or
  when the entire ballot package is returned from
  the Postal Servce as undeliverable.

• Each ballot package includes the following items
• 1. Outgoing mailing envelope
• 2. Return ballot envelope imaged with the
  members control number
• 3. The members DLC ballot card
• 4. The members DLC Candidate Statements
  including voting instructions
• 5. Security sleeve for the ballot card

• The ballot return envelope has a long flap that
  covers the members signature ensuring security
  and confidentiality.

• If requested, a replacement ballot package will
  be mailed to a member.
• The replacement package will have a separate
  control number that will be assigned to the
  member. If a member attempts to vote twice, the
  system will detect it immediately and both ballot
  envelopes will be retrieved for inspection by the
  election committee.

• New members will be mailed ballot packages until
  the last week of the election.
• Reports will be issued with totals of all
  returned ballots for each DLC.
• All ballot envelopes will be recorded on the
  election system the same day they are received.

• The counting of the ballots may be observed at
  the election in Sacramento on Wednesday, May 23.
  The address is 1321 Howe Avenue, Sacramento, Ca.
