Graves County Middle School
  • Based on the seriousness of the infraction,
    and even though it may not be listed, students
    may receive disciplinary actions at the
    discretion of the teacher and/or administrator.

Infractions
  • Infractions are assigned at teacher discretion
  • Examples of infractions are as follows
  • Yelling out in class/disrupting class
  • Being tardy for class
  • Any minor behavior violation
  • 6 Infractions 1 Detention
  • For missing or incomplete homework, please see
    GCMS No Excuse Policy.

Detentions
  • After school detentions will be assigned by
    teacher or administrator.
  • Examples of automatic detentions are Name
    calling, bullying, harassment, planner not
    available when requested (no planner),
    misbehavior for substitute teacher, plagiarism,
    lying, cheating

  • 2nd NINE WEEKS
  • 3rd Infraction Parent Contact
  • 6th Infraction ASD
  • 9th Infraction ASD
  • 12th Infraction ISD
  • 15th Infraction 3 Days of ISD
  • 18th Infraction 5 Days of ISD

  • Student Name
  • Date
  • Notes/Explanation of Infractions
  • On the 3rd infraction, the teacher writing that,
    will make the parent contact.
  • On the 6th,9th,12th,15th,18th the teacher will
    email Mr. Anderson and he will contact student
    and fill out the ASD or ISD form and then contact
    the parent.
  • Lets try to stop ASDs and ISDs before they
    happen. Think preventative. (Example On Johnnies
    4th or 5th infraction email Mr. Anderson and let
    him know that Johnnies getting close to being in
    trouble).

Incentives to Behave
  • Eagle Trait Card Awarded to a student for
    displaying SOAR Traits
  • Eagle Gold Card Awarded to a student for
    receiving 10 Eagle Trait Cards.

Eagle Trait Card
  • Students receive one of these when we see them
    displaying SOAR Traits.
  • All employees of GCMS can give out these cards.
    (cafeteria workers, janitors, ect..)
  • Once a student receives 10 trait cards they will
    turn that into the table at lunch and receive a
    Gold Card.

Eagle Gold Card
  • 10 Eagle Trait Cards 1 Eagle Gold Card
  • Gold Cards maybe used for
  • Hall/Locker Pass
  • Restroom Pass
  • Free entry to one GCMS home sporting event, or
    dance
  • First in lunch line
  • 1 free 20 oz drink
  • Students will hand-in Gold Card to receive
    incentive, those card will be re-usable and sent
    back to the cafeteria.

For This Policy To Work
  • All staff must be on board (this is truly
    school-wide effort)
  • We must emphasize to students that their
    handbooks are just as important as their bill
    fold. They MUST have them at all times.
  • We must think preventively to stop as many
    problems as we can, before they ever start.
