St. Patrick's Day
  • ST. PATRICKS DAY is the Christian feast day,
which celebrates ST. PATRICK, the patron saint of
Ireland. It's the main national Irish holiday.
Large parades take place every year in Dublin and
in most Irish towns and villages. It is
celebrated on the 17th of March not only in
Ireland, Northern Ireland, Great Britain, but all
over the world. ST. PATRICK, by the first name
Maewyn, was born in Britain. At the age of
sixteen he was captured and taken to Ireland as a
slave. He came from a Christian family. He was a
priest. He established the churches throughout
Ireland, he travelled a lot preaching, teaching,
    building churches, opening schools and
    monasteries and everywhere supporting his
preaching with miracles. People celebrate ST.
PATRICKS DAY by wearing clothes of green colour.
The symbol of this holiday is the shamrock,
because Patrick taught the Irish about the
concept of the Trinity by showing people the
shamrock. ST. PATRICKS DAY has been celebrating
for thousand years, since the year of PATRICKS
death. He died on the 17th of March in 461. When
he died the sun was shining for 12 days and
    nights.

An Irish blessing
  • May the road rise up to meet you,may the wind
be always at your back,May the sun shine warm
upon your face, and the rain fall soft upon your
fields, and until we meet again,May God hold you
in the palm of His hand.
