    Christianity (the Christian ABCs)

3
God is called by many names.
  • Jehovah-Jireh 'the Lord will provide' Gen
    2214
  • Jehovah-Nissi 'the Lord our banner' Ex 1715
  • Jehovah-Shalom 'the Lord our peace' Judges
    624
  • Jehovah-Rohi 'the Lord our shepherd' Ps 23
  • And many more names (over 70)

Jehovah-Rophe 'the Lord who heals'.

  • Physical healing Jer 3017, restore to health
    and heal wounds
  • Emotional healing Isa 611, binding up the
    broken hearted
  • God heals the whole person body, soul and spirit

5
Spiritual Hurts Healing.
  • Spiritually we are all dead when not in
relationship with God - this started in the
    Garden of Eden (Gen 3)
  • Spiritual healing is restoration of our
    relationship with God
  • Sin separates us from God, sin can create legal
ground for spirits to reside (anger, frustration)
  • After restoration of relationship with God the
legal ground can be removed and the spirits
    evicted!

6
Physical Hurts Healing.
  • OT Ex 2325 Worship the LORD your God, and His
blessing will be on your food and water. I will
take away sickness from among you
  • NT Acts 20 7-12, a man falls from a window but
after Paul declares him to be alive he is.
  • Physical healing after prayer, Oasis often has a
time of healing during the service, dont be
afraid to come forward for prayers of healing
  • Not all are healed, it is according to Gods Will

7
Receiving physical healing is not just for
Christians.
  • Did you know 70 of NT physical healings happened
in evangelistic meetings? Often healings first
    then proclaiming the Gospel
  • Mark 16 17And these signs will accompany those
who believe In my name they will drive out
demons they will speak in new tongues 18they
will pick up snakes () they will place their
hands on sick people, and they will get well.
  • John 5, An invalid man healed without knowing who
    Jesus was at that time

8
Emotional Hurts Healing.
  • Peter after disowning Jesus 3 times to the guards
broke down and wept (Mark 1466-72), but Jesus
    restores him (John 2115-22)
  • Today its often related to criticism, loss,
    rejection
  • Emotion hurts held in will devour / poison a
person from the inside out. The hurts will
destroy relationships and lead to major
    resentments
  • Recognition is required, prayer is needed,
friends are often needed to lead a person to a
position where they can forgive those that hurt
    them

9
Rejection is often a major root of hurts.
  • Rejection Self-rejection, rejection from others,
    rejection of others.
  • Man is supposed to spend time with each other
(e.g. the Church body, some are feet, some hands)
  • Self-rejection is often caused by abuse from
    others
  • Abusers are often rejected themselves
  • Rejection often follows the family tree (Holy
Spirit can revealed knowledge of family tree even
if you do not know your own parents)

10
God sent His son Jesus for our salvation.
  • Jesus Christ's name is important in itself
  • Jesus derived from Hebrew Joshua means Jehovah
    is salvation
  • Christ equivalent to the Hebrew Messiah means
    The anointed one
  • Jesus the ultimate rejected man

11
Jesus - the sacrifice for our sins.
  • Jesus died on the cross to be a sacrifice for
all our sin, for everyone allowing us to have
    relationship with God again
  • This is how much God loved the world He gave
his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why
so that no one need be destroyed by believing in
him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life.
    John 316 - The Message

12
God is the God of 2nd Chances.
  • We can take our hurts to the cross where Jesus
died for our sins and forgive those that hurt us
(The Lords prayer, Matt 69-15, 14For if you
forgive men when they sin against you, your
heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15But if
you do not forgive men their sins, your Father
will not forgive your sins.) 14?????????
    ???????????????15??????? ???????????????????
  • We can ask God to heal us emotionally,
spiritually and physically according to His will

13
Summary God is the God of Many Names including
Healer.
  • We are often wounded rejected people
  • Need to be reconciled with God (thro the cross)
  • We must forgive those that hurt us (may be hard!)
  • We should give our hurts/rejection over to Jesus
    on the cross
  • The Church can help in the healing process by
    loving and accepting rejected people
  • We can ask God for healing because He heals
    today, physically, emotionally and spiritually
