  • Third party application offered by Nextel with
    Direct Billing
  • Deployed in 2004
  • Assigned to all field staff
  • Per user cost is 42.00 including the actual
    phone cost
  • Supervisor run reports on various parameters
    mileage, time in/out, meal period and break
    length, etc.

Program Basics
  • Phone is configured with the application
  • User is assigned to phone and added to Comet
    Tracker database
  • User is added to Supervisors Group
  • User receives program instructions and policy
    information
  • User carries phone when on duty
  • User logs in and out at beginning and end of
    shift
  • User breaks in and out for meal and break
    periods.

Specific Requirements
  • GPS receiver (phone or vehicle mounted
    transceiver)
  • Phone must be JAVA capable
  • Must add phone data plan
  • IT staff must learn to configure phones
    (installs,GPS and Security PIN settings), Install
    Client applications and maintain SQL database.
  • Must purchase Map point licenses (our
    configuration) or use CT maps. Users can use Map
    point independently for other uses.
  • Updates can be downloaded individually or pushed
    by Actsoft.
  • May have issues with Client access needs (must be
    power user or greater).
  • Actsoft stores 2 weeks of data, your data needs
    vary on how much is gathered with phone (task
    entry, GPS ping settings, other data threshold
    settings)
  • Can Geo-code your facilities to upload into CT
    but separation of distinct values can be
    difficult due to phone GPS accuracy levels (strip
    malls).
  • Reports may be customized by CT, or custom
    reports may be written with various 3rd party
    reporting products.
