- Students will learn about some of the cities of
Michigan. They will be required to research and
give a brief history of their chosen city. The
students will also be creating a deck of cards
with the information that the class collects.
This will relate them to Michigan's history and
achieve a better understanding of our great
state. Additionally, the students will use
creative thinking and production. They will
compare their cities by playing cards with their
new Michigan deck of cards and by the PowerPoint
presentation that they created. The lesson is
focused on Social Studies and brief description
of the standards are below - Social Studies

20Conclusions (Teacher)
- I hope you and your class enjoyed this
challenge. Not only did your students learn
about our great state, they did so by using
technology along with their basic knowledge of
Social Studies and Language Arts. The
possibilities for this project are endless. You
could have your class do this project every year,
assigning them cities that have not been done yet
and soon will have many many decks of cards to
learn Michigan history from. Other classes in
your school could also do this project and you
could exchange cards to learn about the cities
that they chose. Maybe you could substitute the
cities and use the cards for other information
about Michigan, such as symbols. What a great way
to learn more about our state!
