• Treatment Advocacy for Policy makers relevant
  stakeholders and Education for PHA as well as
  health service providers.

Implemented Activities (up to Jan 2006)

• Training on project management for the staffs of
  Mukto Akash Bangladesh (MAB)
• Information Sharing session with Most at Risk
  Population
• Seminar on Advocacy, Treatment, Care and Support
  for PHAs
• Training on Proposal writing and Budget
  preparation organized through BSWS
• Refer for HIV Testing
• Networking with health service providers
• Attend different kinds of Meeting, Workshop,
  Seminar etc.

Treatment access for PLHA in Bangladesh

• Treatment access for PHA in traditional set up
  are more inadequate than general people
• Ashar Alo Society is providing OIs treatment and
  limited ARV support to PHA through three
  divisional offices with the support of Beximco,
  Dutch Bangla Bank Foundation, Action Aid etc.
• AITAM hospital and IDH provide inpatient care at
  Dhaka and Royal Hospital, Marie Stopes at Sylhet.

Project Contribution of better treatment access
to PHA

• Meeting and linkage with policy makers and
  relevant stakeholders
• Advocacy meeting on HIV/AIDS with Doctors
• Sensitization meeting on HIV/AIDS with Hospital
  Nurses

  to create more treatment accessibility in
  Bangladesh

Achievements

• MRP are coming forward for testing their HIV
  status
• Health service providers, elites and stakeholders
  started realizing the necessity of treatment for
  PHAs.
• Health service providers are being motivated day
  by day to provide treatment without showing
  discrimination towards PHAs
• MAB have learnt how to write an effective
  proposal and appropriate budget preparation.
• MAB have learnt how to manage a project perfectly
  e.g. program, Finance and staff management.
• We use to share our working experience with
  stakeholders and policy makers through attending
  different kinds of program.

Challenges/Obstacle

• Health service providers are still not sensitized
  enough
• Program coverage are not sufficient
• Inadequate manpower to implement the project
  activities
• Medicine for the PHAs very much costly for them
  to effort.
