Process
  • Self-evaluation is an integral part of school
    improvement cycle
  • Self-evaluation is a tool to examine strengths,
weaknesses and areas for further development

learning, leadership and management of the school
  • Self-evaluation runs throughout the academic year

Timescale
  • Summer term
  • Success criteria related to targets in action
    plans are evaluated.
  • Curriculum groups not co-ordinators.
  • Curriculum groups cover five areas of
    learning-maths, english, creative arts, science,
    ICT.

opportunity to consider common threads at each
    meeting.

Timescale
  • Autumn term
  • Self evaluation should demonstrate strengths and
    weaknesses.
  • An integral part of self evaluation is
    evidence-how do we know?
  • External evidence comes in the form of LEA
annual review, PANDA report, LEA audit of centres
    (every 2 years)
  • This year the SSESEN document has offered a
strong model for very focused self evaluation of
SEN based on OFSTEDs S4 form.
  • Every judgment in every area needs to be
    supported by evidence.
  • Evidence can be quantitative and qualitative
  • This year the school leadership team considered
    the document together.
  • Action plans of all the curriculum groups plus
learning development and the whole school
improvement plan are shared with governors during
    an annual non-pupil day.
  • Governors annual report to parents evaluates the
effectiveness of the policy for Learning
    Development, including the schools Accessibility
    Plan.

6
Timescale
  • Spring term
  • Information from PLASC will determine finance.
  • Projected budget from Devon LEA will influence
    developments eg. training, staffing levels.
  • The impact of national or local initiatives.
  • The structure of the SSESEN has influenced the
way whole school self evaluation is moving.
  • The vision for our school is that self-evaluation
of all areas of learning will be based upon the
    above model.
