Centre Issues

• EGSC is a mixed sports club
• In 2004 EGSC had two Netball Leagues 1 Senior
  and 1 Junior league
• 600 people playing netball
• Poor facilities significantly limiting the
  ability of the sport to encourage youngsters to
  take part and for the clubs to develop
• The facilities were on two separate sites that
  presented major difficulties for the sport
• On two sites - organisational challenges for
  leagues and fixtures
• Neither had floodlights
• Negligible parking
• No toilets
• No Changing Facilities
• Often had to clear up courts before play i.e.
  broken glass, etc
• Playing surfaces very slippery
• Very unsafe environment for young girls in the
  winter months

• Improve social aspect of sport in order to
• Provide a safe, family friendly environment to
  play
• Provide an opportunity for spectators
• Provide facilities that were of the highest
  quality
• Improve opportunities to coach youngsters by
  having all the clubs at one site
• More opportunities to train for the individual
  teams as the courts are available more often
• Improve ability to run half term camps and
  courses
• Opportunity to try other sports at EGSC

• G4S Netball Centre opened in May 2008
• 9 floodlit netball courts with storage facilities
  and parking
• 6 courts are double-marked for other sports
• Hope to host local, regional and possibly
  national tournaments
• Elite and grass roots participation
• Presented with England Netball Golden Globe Award
  for the development of grass roots netball
