diagnosed with leukemia or other diseases - Only 30 will find a donor match within their
family. 70 must actively seek unrelated matches - The National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP) has
been assisting those in need of unrelated
donation for more than 10 years
7NMDP Facilitated Transplants
- Donors must be of healthy between the ages of 18
to 60 - Since 1987, NMDP has facilitated more than 16,000
- NMDP facilitates approximately 170 transplants
each month 2000 annually

more than 4,400 men, women and children are
waiting for an organ donation. For these people,
an organ transplant will mean the difference
between life and death. But many area patients
continue to wait, or die waiting , because of a
critical shortage of organ donors. - APRIL is NATIONAL DONATE LIFE MONTH
- Join the FOX 29 team Sunday, April 18th, at the
9th Annual Dash for Organ Donor Awareness. This
5K/10K run and 3K walk begins at the Philadelphia
Art Museum and continues on West River Drive
along the Schuylkill River .

dedicated to hosting marrow donor drives - Their goal is to add 10,000 potential marrow
donors to the NMDP Registry - Has located donors for leukemia patient
throughout the United States
