Indian National Congress

• Began to demand more self-rule in 1892
• Divided between the Garam Dal (Hot Faction) who
  wanted independence and the Naram Dal (Soft
  Faction), who advocated dominion status.
• Britians need for Indian soldiers strengthened
  INCs position.
• 1906-Mulsim League Established
• 1916--Lucknow Pact. The Congress and the League
  unite in demand for greater self-government. It
  is denied by the British.
