3911 Simulator The 911 Simulator program was
developed by Pioneers to teach children how to
phone for help in an emergency, duplicating the
exact process experienced during a real 911 call.
Computers For Schools Pioneers coordinate the
acquisition, refurbishment and distribution of
computers donated from government agencies and
the private sector to provide schools with
upgraded wiring, network installation, Internet
connections and computer training.Dictionary
ProjectThe DICTIONARY PROJECT is designed to aid
third grade teachers in their goal to see all
their students leave at the end of the year as
good writers, active readers, and creative
thinkers. Our purpose is to provide third grade
students in the community with their own personal
dictionary. The dictionary is for the children to
keep, so they can take it with them into the
fourth grade and use it throughout their school
career. Electronic MapsElectronic Map A
Valuable Classroom Tool The Pioneer Electronic
Map was introduced by Pioneers in Boise, Idaho,
and is gaining popularity as a useful and
innovative teaching tool in our schools. Its
primary purpose is to teach the correlation
between the 50 United States and their capital
cities in the US and the Provinces and their
capitols in Canada. The portable 22-by-21-inch US
and Canada map enables it to be used in virtually
any location and is a valuable complement to the
Playground Map project.
4Heart Pillows Heart Pillows are designed to
give comfort to hospital patients recovering from
open heart surgery and are distributed to local
hospitals. Hot Trikes for KidsSince the early
1980s, Pioneers have been producing and
distributing the Hand-Operated Tricycle, also
known as the HOT Trike enabling children who do
not have the use of their legs to enjoy one of
childhood's simplest yet greatest joys.
Hug-A-Bears Hug-A-Bears were created by the
Pioneers in order to provide comfort to children
in traumatic or unfamiliar situations. The bears
are donated to public safety, fire, rescue and
emergency medical personnel to be given to
childrenLife Enrichment and Human Services
Being committed to performing projects that

applications with critical subject matter
concepts. The result? Challenges, fun, and
revelance. The program is designed for
elementary aged school children in grades 4
through 7, and is available on not charge to
schools, community centers and other
organizations. Rug MAPS8 foot by 11 foot nylon

7Read to Me Kits and Hot Tips for ParentsPioneer
Read to Me Kits and Hot Tips include valuable
information for parents and current materials
about building literacy skills with their
children and starting them on the path to an
interest in education. TELECOMPIONEERS READ TO
ME KITSPURPOSEThe TelecomPioneers Read to
Me kits are designed to reach newborns and
literacy at-risk parents, stressing the
importance of reading to children from birth and
throughout childhood. The first goal is to
stress a parent-to-child, individualized approach
in reading, thereby building book-reading habits.
The second goal is to encourage parents to
obtain reading instruction and training for
themselves in order to build their own reading
skills. TelecomPioneers Read to Me promotes
and supports literacy throughout childhood and
adulthood.PROCEDURESTo distribute the kits,
contact the agencies which serve the clientele
you wish to reach. Arrange for a time to leave a
sample and to explain the work of the Pioneers
and the purpose of the literacy project.
Determine how many layettes are needed according
to the number of pregnant women who are deemed
literacy at-risk by the agency. All of the
materials are assembled and then the diaper is
folded over the materials and pinned. The diaper
is then placed in the baggie with the
congratulations/branding sheet placed between the
diaper and the baggie.BRANDINGCreate the
TelecomPioneers insert create two per page of
paper, copy and cut the page in two. The insert
should briefly explain the purpose of the kit,
provide a brief explanation of the Pioneer
organization, and prominently display the
sponsoring company log and the Pioneer logo.
This insert should be of a professional quality.
For assistance with a master insert and for
copies of approved camera ready logos, contact
the TelecomPioneers Marketing Manager, Rob Shamo,
at (303) 571-9271. The insert should be placed

9NATIONAL PARK ACCESSIBILITY PARTNERS PROGRAM
(NPAPP) National Parks Service
www.nps.govTelecomPioneers is proud to announce
that the TelecomPioneers Board of Directors has
voted to renew the longstanding partnership we
have had with the National Park Service (NPS).
The primary focus of the National Park
Accessibility Partnership Program is that
TelecomPioneers groups can work with NPS staff in
completing projects that enhance accessibility
for persons with disabilities. In the past 10
years, Pioneers have completed volunteer projects
in more than 100 national parks. Pioneers are
dedicated to making the National Parks more
accessible to everyone, including the 43 million
Americans with disabilities, seniors and families
with young children. Pioneers work with their
local parks across the U.S. to develop projects
that best meet local needs. These include
projects such as Trail improvements
Installing telecommunications devices for the
deaf Ramp and walkway construction
10National Beep Baseball Association www.nbba.orgA
Pioneer invention, our "beepballs" make America's
favorite pastime a game for all athletes -
sighted and sightless alike. Pioneers take a
regulation 16-inch softball and fit it with a
specially designed rechargeable beeping device
sturdy enough for plenty of crack-of-the-bat
action. Used mainly by National Beep Baseball
Association teams of blind and visually impaired
athletes, the beepballs are enjoyed all over the
world. In fact, in 2000 the annual Beep Baseball
World Series was staged in Taiwan! Pioneers make
the special tone-emitting bases, too! The demand
for Pioneers Beep Baseballs is very high, and as
the word spreads, more and more requests are
coming from new organizations such as schools for
the blind. --------------------------------------
