2Helpful Contracting Tip When applying for EO
coverage, a new license, or license renewal, all
paperwork needs to be sent in to Agents'
Marketing Groups contracting department for
processing. By doing this, not only does it
secure that the forms are filled out correctly
and fees are sent in for the correct amount, but
it also lets Agents' Marketing Group do the busy
work of staying on top of things so that you,
the agent can attend to more pressing issues.
For any contracting or licensing questions,
contact Julie Paulk in our Athens office (

Notes from The Desk of Sam Massey, Sr.
On behalf of all of us at AMG, I want to take
this opportunity to Thank all of you for helping
me make 2005 a very successful year. Recruiting
by Michelle brought in several outstanding Life
Producers. Your securities business continues to
make us one of the largest offices with
ProEquities in the country. With Coy Dillard
taking over the OSJ position, 2006 should be a
great year as we continue to serve you and add
new representatives.
Annuities with Roger in his first full year at
the helm tripled the amount of sales over the
previous year. With support from our core
carriers, the sky is the limit in 2006. This year
is already off to a great start with the Life
Leaders Kickoff Meeting at the Crowne Plaza in
Atlanta and Dinner at Maggiano's. What a great
way to thank you for a wonderful year. Several
events will follow during the year, St. Simons,
the Braves Night, and our annual Massey Classic
Golf Tournament. During the last several years I
have been tied close to the office. Al Blenk has
taken over as General Manager in July of 2005,
allowing me to return to the field. Im looking
forward to seeing as many of you as possible
during the next year. A recent study by LIMRA
found that three fourths of Americans agree that
life insurance is the best way to protect against
the loss created by the premature death of a
primary wage earner. Also, TWENTY-FOUR MILLION
U.S. households have no life insurance protection
at all. Among those that already own some life
insurance, FORTY PERCENT BELIEVE THEY DONT HAVE
ENOUGH. Consumers feel buying life insurance is
an important and complex financial decision.
Half of them find it difficult to decide how much
to buy and 43 worry about making the wrong
decision. We have a great opportunity this year
to solve this problem! All of us at AMG are
looking forward to working with you to make 2006
our best year ever!
Speaking About Ethics You probably heard about
the Father who was explaining the importance of
Ethics to his teenage son. He said Son, ethics
is something thats part of your life eveyday.
Just today a man came here to pay back a 100
loan and as he left, I noticed there were two new
crisp 100 bills stuck together. Immediately, an
ethical question arose Do I have to tell your
Mother about the other 100?

Guarantees with a couple of twists!!! By Dale
Stephens There are many companies that offer
Guaranteed Life products these days, so how can
you set yourself apart from your competition and
win (or avoid) those premium comparison wars
where nothing but the lowest premium seems to
matter? There are a couple of ways . 1) Many of
the Guaranteed UL products on the market today
sacrifice cash value for the guaranteed death
benefit and premium. Youve seen the zeros in
the cash value columns. Indianapolis Lifes
VISTA ADVANTAGE is an Indexed UL policy with
guaranteed premiums and death benefits comparable
to the best out there . But with an important
difference. The Indexed nature of this product
gives your client the potential for some
significant cash value while requiring premiums
no higher than the lowest Guaranteed UL
products. So you dont have to ask for higher
premiums AND your clients dont have to sacrifice
guarantees in order to get cash value potential.
PLUS Indy Life has a term conversion program
that can allow you to offer your current term
clients a guaranteed issue conversion to this
product. Not all term policies qualify, so
contact us for details of the VISTA ADVANTAGE
indexed UL product and Indys term conversion
program. 2) AIG / American Generals guaranteed
UL product, the ContinUL, has product features
that can be used to set it apart from the
competition. The idea below works best for issue
ages less than 60 or so. Instead of funding the
policy on a low, level premium to maturity basis,
use the policys dial a guarantee capability
to determine an even lower premium to fund the
guarantee for a shorter period of time - like
15, 20 or 30 years. The policy holder can catch
up the lifetime guarantees later, using the
interest free catch-up provision. In the mean
time, you can use the difference in premium to
fund a guaranteed RETURN OF PREMIUM term policy.
The ROP TERM will guarantee an additional death
benefit during the initial 15, 20 or 30 years
and, if the insured survives this period, will
guarantee the money to exercise the interest
free catch-up provision in the UL policy. So,
your client gets more death benefit for the same
premium during the initial period for no
additional premium, and youll like what this
combination does to your commission with the
rolling target on the UL. No projected
benefits here its NOTHING BUT GUARANTEES.
Give us a call and let us help you design a case
using this technique today . Youll be glad you
did.

INTRODUCING ON-LINE CONTRACTING!!!! By Julie
Paulk As most of you know, getting appointed
with an insurance company can be somewhat
stressful. The inescapable task of answering page
after page of questions can be time consuming and
mind-numbing. Doesnt it make sense, then, to
produce this information (usually requested by
all companies) only once? Of course it does!
Thats whats so great about ON-LINE CONTRACTING!
During the coming weeks, I will be teaching a
class on how to use this service in detail. The
class will be open to any agent (or office
personnel) that would be interested in learning
how to correctly maneuver through the ON-LINE
CONTRACTING process. The dates are listed in the
Calendar of Events section at the end of the
newsletter. You only need to decide which date
you would like to attend the 3 hour class (9 a.m.
12 p.m.). For questions, comments, or to
reserve a space, call Julie Paulk at 800-255-6641
or email at jpaulk_at_amgida.com. I look forward to
hearing from you! (Space is limited, but
additional classes can be provided if needed!)
The Top 20 producers will qualify to bring a
guest to dinner and the golf tournament. Your
spouse and guests can also accompany you for
dinner.

and order forms needed to write the case. Further
information on I-Pipeline is available to you.
Simply contact Derek in our Marketing Department

Dillard - OSJ
I am excited about joining AMG. A few of you
know me from years back, but most of you do not.
My pledge to you to is to treat your business as
if it were my own. You deserve and will have
your calls, e-mails, and any other communications
returned as soon as possible. The production
records I received from ProEquities showed that
six of our group produced in excess of 100,000
of Gross Dealer Concessions with three of those
producing in excess of 200,000 in GDC. What a
great job!! Congratulations to Rusty Myers,
Todd Hamlin, Al Ramsey, Kerry Evert, Bobby
Massey, and Scott Carter for their success and
hard work on behalf of their clients! Upon
visiting the Main Office of ProEquities, the New
Business department explained the technology that
is available in transmitting business.
Basically, there are two ways we will do
this Upon receipt of your business, it will be
checked for completeness and compliance. Any
problems will be communicated to you immediately
by e-mail or by phone. The entire file, when
approved, will be uploaded electronically through
Advisors Portal to ProEquities, and the
Applications, etc. will be sent overnight the
same day to the proper fund company, etc. You
will be notified by e-mail when this was
done. This technology is available to you. Right
now, Bobby Massey is the only rep using this.
You can scan and upload through Advisors Portal
(must be approved) and the file will show as
submitted on my Advisors Portal for approval or
rejection. You will be called or e-mailed of any
problems and you can correct and resubmit. Once
approved, the file will be uploaded to
ProEquities, and then you can overnight the
applications, etc. directly to your fund company,
etc. I thought you might be interested in how
your business is being processed. Looking forward
to meeting and working with each of you!! Let me
know how I can help you. - Coy Dillard.

SPIAs Apply Leverage To Your Clients Income
Portfolio by Roger DavenportWorking
Americans are not the only Americans that have
felt the effects of change in the economy.
Retirees have been adversely affected as well.
The turmoil in the equity markets and the
dramatic drop in interest rates have forced many
retirees to live on less income or be faced with
going back into the work force. So how do we
prevent further damage and help new retirees
protect themselves in the future? Part of the
solution is one of the most basic products ever
created the Single Premium Immediate Annuity
(SPIA). The SPIA is perhaps the most under
utilized financial product, and is effective as
part of many planning strategies (retirement,
capital transfer, estate planning). For todays
discussion we will focus on it as a retirement
income tool. One of the first questions to ask a
client, when they are revealing their retirement
savings, is the amount of non qualified assets
available to use to fund their retirement income!
The reason is that non-qualified assets are
where we can apply leverage with SPIAs. Leverage
does the one thing we also try to do with money
Do more with less. When we fund a SPIA with non
qualified assets, there is a calculation called
the exclusion ratio that is done by the insurance
company. The exclusion ratio returns the clients
cost basis back to them over their life
expectancy or over the specified period certain.
This is the only financial asset that is allowed
by the IRS to do this. By taking a portion of
the clients assets to create this tax advantaged
income, we are able to use the rest of the assets
in a growth strategy. This gives us the time we
need to grow the remaining assets untouched (this
allows for higher probability of expected
returns) to replace the value of the asset used
in the SPIA. The SPIA also frees up assets that
once were needed for creating retirement income
that now can be focused on wealth replacement /
transfer strategy (using life insurance). In any
event there are a number of ways depending on the
clients goals and objectives to create this tax
advantaged guaranteed income for your clients.
But what the client likes best is the leveraged
(tax advantage) and the direct deposit they
receive each month (life contingencies)
forever! SPIAs can also be very effective in
income strategies for qualified assets. The tax
advantage income is lost because qualified money
has no cost basis, but the guarantee is the key
in qualified strategies. Retirement income
planning has been complicated by low interest
rates and volatility in the equity market and the
SPIA is the financial tool that brings back much
needed simplicity to the process. For more
information on how SPIAs can work for your
clients or for help in implementing and the
design of these strategies call Roger Davenport
or Jonathan Shelnutt at AMGs Atlanta Office at
(678) 461-2055 or toll free at (877) 255-6641.
