SNTS ConferenceAberdeen, July 2006
  • The following pages have been designed to help
you decide which hotel you might wish to stay in
which outings you may wish to go on give you an
overview of evening events arranged for you and
provide you with the necessary registration forms.

2
We have arranged as wide as possible a variety of
accommodations, from top class hotels and suites
to more standard hall of residence rooms. Some
of these are detailed on this and the next two
pages.
We have reserved a variety of rooms in the
Universitys own accommodation complex, within 2
minutes walk of the conference venue. These
include Single or twin rooms (en-suite) in
Kings Hall (the Universitys own private
hotel) Single room (en-suite) in Crombie
Hall Single rooms with shared facilities in both
Crombie and Johnston Halls
The Caledonian Hotel is on Union Terrace, in the
centre of the city, and is one of Aberdeens
favourite luxury hotels. This comfortable
bedroom is typical of the high standard found
throughout the hotel
3
We have reserved suites of rooms in the Skene
Apartment Hotel on Rosemount, close to the city
centre. Ranging in size from 1 4 bedroom
apartments, these are ideal for friends either
travelling together to, or meeting up in,
Aberdeen. In addition to the bedrooms, each
apartment has a sitting room, bathroom and
kitchen. The suites provide an attractive
alternative to hotel accommodation, as
self-catering is a viable option. They can also
work out more cheaply for a group sharing!
4
The Premier Lodge Hotel, on West North Street, is
only about 10 minutes walk from Kings College,
the Conference venue. It is a typical
Travelodge type hotel but the rooms are
comfortable, its inexpensive and its close to
the centre of town as well as to the University.
5
We have arranged a series of evening events which
will both welcome you to our city and give you an
opportunity in a busy schedule to see something
more than just the University. This, and the
next, page outline the events.
On the Tuesday evening, 25 July, the University
is hosting a reception for SNTS Delegates in the
magnificent Elphinstone Hall, on the University
Campus
On Wednesday evening, 26th July, Aberdeen City
Council will welcome you at a Civic reception in
the Art-Deco splendour of the Beach Ballroom,
right on the sea front. This is followed by
dinner in the same venue
6
On the evening of Thursday, 27th July, you will
be taken to Drum Castle, a few miles outside the
city, where a picnic has been organised for you.
As well as having a chance to see inside the
Castle (run by the National Trust for Scotland),
there are magnificent grounds and a rose-garden
at Drum, all waiting to be explored.
On Friday 28th July, the Conference Dinner will
be held in the Baronial splendour of Ardoe House
Hotel, one of the finest hotels in North-East
Scotland. Situated on Royal Deeside it is,
however, only a few minutes drive from the city.
