  • This school program has been named
  • PEACEBUILDERS
  •  by Bethlehem classroom teachers and their
students (K-12) selected from a large number
    requesting training in a progressive,
    experiential, interactive method
offered for testing in the Bethlehem School Area.

Peacebuilders Teen age mentors

  • The initial training involved approximately fifty
teachers and several hundred students of all
levels of academic development in Bethlehem, Beit
    Sahour and Beit Jala Schools.
  • The Peacebuilders Pedagogical approach is unique
in the Middle East for its method (K-University)
  • systemic and  comprehensive
  • (infusing thematically into every class the best
practices world wide Peace Education materials).

  • "We have been working on the Peacebuilders
(program) with our children for almost half a
year now. Living in Palestine, our children face
and experience a lot of violence, which makes
them fearful and insecure and thus violent
themselves. This program (Educating for Peace)
has played a positive role in helping install
back a good amount of love, peace, and security
in the minds and hearts of our children. Also,
this has been a good way to integrate English
(language) into our curriculum. During these
first six months, our children have learned
English words as well as a number of songs which
they love to sing again and again."
  • Titiana Abu-Dayyeh, Classroom Teacher Beit AI
Liqa Kindergarden Beit Jala, Bethlehem, Palestine

  • "In the regional Teachers Center Headquarters
here in Israel, we are in the process of looking
for new syllabi. There are already some teachers
Workshops concerning "Peace Education" in the
Israel educational system, but we have found the
American Dr. Sis Levin's pedagogical approach and
her excellent collection of resources are more
comprehensive, systemic and adaptable to our
various cultures than what we have, and therefore
we are requesting a cooperative lecture,
training, and research relationship with her."
  • Dr. Svi Sever
  • Office of the Ministry of Education
  • Regional Teachers Centers
  • State of Israel
  • "You must know that (your Education for Peace)
workshop brought upon me a lot of things and
questions I started to think about I truly feel
that what we did was the beginning of a lot of
wonderful things. I hope so. I want you to know
(Dr. Levin) that you really inspire me I don't
know, you give me that feeling of strength and
hope. Now is the right time to start educating
    people about these matters."

I strongly believe that this is a great project.
We do need you desperately. I believe it would be
wonderful if we could build exchange programs
with US schools. Our ninth graders keep asking
about you and can't wait to see you...Looking
forward to having you back with us." Giselle
Khoury, MA, (PhD in progress at Boston
University) Ninth Grade English Teacher and
Associate Introducing Peace Education at Mar
Elias Educational Institute, The Galilee, Israel
"I learnt about your program "The New Family of
Abraham Peace Education Course". I am very much
appreciating the program for the coming
constructive (period) and expected results. I am
willing to contribute to the program since I do
believe of the good work you are doing." Nafez
Assaily Director, Library on Wheels for
Nonviolence and Peace Jerusalem, Israel "We need
more of these (lectures). Please send Dr. Levine
back to our area, she is wonderful and can raise
public consciousness in this urgent area of need.
(We are) "Grateful for identifying a socially
toxic environment so that it can be brought to
the attention of an apathetic /indifferent
population in the USA (and) a K-12 curriculum of
nonviolence needs to be put in place nationally,
I recommend Dr. Lucille Levine." "Having worked
for 8 years around violence in the predominately
black schools, I found this program to be
necessary in our society. As director of an
Emergency/Trauma Center, I feel more emphasis
should be made in the medical field." "Dr. Levin
was impressive." Response evaluations after
Levins lecture/interactive broadcast
partnering University of Alabama, Birmingham
and Harvard School of Public Health Education
Development Center, Prevention Institute "Dr
Levin has found the antidote to violence." Don

  • THE CHILDREN OF ABRAHAM
  • An Episcopal Peace Education Mission Project in
    Bethlehem
  • I am deeply impressed with all you have done and
continue to do as witnesses to non- violence.
Your program for teaching nonviolence in the
schools should be mandatory in every school.

  • .there is a marvelous reality in the Holy Land
schools which embrace students and faculty from
Christian, Muslim, Druze, and Jewish traditions
who are studying in a unique community of
learning and service. Through The Children of
Abraham Project Peace Education Resource Center,
founded and directed by Dr. Sis Levin, Israeli,
Arab and Jewish I teachers are being trained to
infuse nonviolent peace education into every
subject from English as a Second Language in
Kindergarden to instruction through the most
    advanced university science courses.

    Landrum Bolling
  • President, Emeritus, Earlham

  • We are daring to believe God for the healing of
the family of Abrahamstarting with the children
    in Bethlehem as a model.

  • Dr. Sis Levin
  • Peace Education Consultant, Holy Land Trust
  • .Out of her personal experience, almost
innocently, she provides us with that strange pot
of gold which lies at the end of the rainbow. It
is the paradox that the power of government,
money or ambition is, almost inexorably, the
cause of such malignant confusion, and that the
down to earth, knowledge-able compassion born of
    weakness is its only cure
  • the only scalpel capable of cutting through the
cancer. Herein lies the essence of peacemaking.
  • M. Scott Peck, psychiatrist and
    author

  • The teacher, parent and student Reponses have
been gratifying to all and resulted (2005) in an
upper level (BU) student sharing trip to the US
funded by the Episcopal Diocese of Alabama. The
plan for a next trip with colleagues in Northern
Ireland and later South Africa are being outlined
by the Suffragan Bishop of Alabama and others.
