What is a century year?

• A century year is any year that is evenly
  divisible by 100
• Examples1800, 1900, 2000, etc. are evenly
  divisible by 100 so they are century years

• The rules to determine if a specific year is a
  leap year or not depend on whether the year
  is a century year or a non-century year.

• A century is a leap year if it is divisible by
  400
• Examples The year 1800 is NOT a leap year
  since it is NOT evenly divisible by 400 1800

• A non-century year is a leap year if it is evenly
