Current Situation

• The Law Enforcement agencies in Santa Clara
  county work in four different radio bands 150,
  460, 480 and 800 MHz.
• Each of these radio bands has its own Law Mutual
  Aid (LMA) frequency or channel assigned for
  interagency radio interoperability.

BayMACS Background

• The Fire agencies in Santa Clara county work in
  three different radio bands 150, 480 and 800
  MHz.
• All of these agencies have radios that provide
  for radio interoperability through the use of
  radio channels in the 150 band.
• The Countys contract ambulance provider works in
  the 800 MHz radio band. They cannot access the
  Fire mutual aid radio channels.

BayMACS Overview

• The goal of BayMACS is to build out the coverage
  of each of the Law Enforcement radio band mutual
  aid channels to at least that comparable to the
  current coverage of the 480 LMA Channel, and
  interconnect these LMA Channels for use as a
  command channel or for large area/event
  interagency communications which would be
  inclusive of all Law Enforcement, Fire and
  Medical agencies in the county.
