A Cross-Cultural Workshop
Gardening With the Umaña Family
Join us for a trip to Latin America in the heart
of rural Missouri! This is a training workshop
to learn about Hispanic culture and
agriculture-related activities. Educators,
Extension Specialists, and the community is
invited to attend all or part of the event
Saturday, September 20, 2008 915 am300
pm Morning Sessions 915 am12 noon
include Hispanic Culture, Experiences and
challenges Hispanics face in Rural Missouri.
Presenters Marshall residents, Lincoln
University Cooperative Extension Specialist,
Nadia Navarrete-Tindall, Brad Jacobs, Naturalist
MDC, and Casi Lock, MU graduate student. Break 12
noon100 pm Light lunch and networking Afternoon
Sessions 100 p.m.300 p.m. Fall gardening,
composting, community gardens, agriculture loans
and grants, scholarships share programs and hands
on demonstrations offered by Lincoln University
and University of Missouri Extension Specialists
and Federal and State Agencies.

Directions from Columbia Take I-70 west to Hwy
65 exit, go North 10 miles, Hwy 65 curves to the
west, stay on it and look for the event
signs. Take the first road west (County Road
302), before arriving to the hospital. Go .8
miles, paved road turns to gravel. Cross bridge
look for the mailboxes on the right hand side.
Turn left (south) here and then take the first
right which curves back north, that is the
driveway.
