7What are the roles of a TBW trip leader?
- A team leader works with the assistance of TBW
Coordinator to - For Communities and Destination of Choice trips
- Communicate with the in-country host and TBW
coordinator to ensure a well-organized,
meaningful trip. - Help advertise and recruit team members. Solely
responsible for interviewing and inviting all
team members. Organize team member registration. - Assure/facilitate spiritual leadership, including
devotions, scripture reading, reflection times,
etc. - Provide expertise and skills needed in times of
crisis. - Promote Thrivent Financial and Habitat for
Humanity - For Destination of Choice trips only
- Negotiate the itinerary, transportation, lodging,
food, etc. with the host. - Create a budget that covers all work team
expenses and donations. - Provide appropriate orientation materials for
team members (i.e. cultural sensitivity, travel
advice, passports and visas, goals, expectations,
geography, politics, religion, logistics, health,
safety and first aid).
8What are the roles of the RFO for TBW trips?
- Recruit potential team leaders and teams
- Share TBW Community location(s)
- Encourage potential team leaders to complete
submit team proposal - Recommend/approve team proposals forward to TBW
coordinator bacton_at_habitat.org - Promote RFO trips
- Ensure all confirmed trips are complete
- Replace cancelled trips within your region with a
trip in same calendar year.

newsletters, bulletins or make presentations - Focus on location with a local connection
- Approach FRs personally
- Approach former Thrivent Builds chapter
specialists personally - Approach people and groups who may be new to
"mission trip" idea - Finding a local leader to lead the charge
- Once you have leaders, RFO should help them
recruit participants - Ask local schools (especially Lutheran high
schools or colleges). Many even have a Habitat
campus chapters
