55Offside QA
- It is not an offense in itself to be in an
offside position. - A player in an offside position is only penalized
if, at the moment the ball touches or is played
by one of his/her team, he/she is, in the opinion
of the referee, involved in active play by - interfering with play
- interfering with an opponent
- gaining an advantage by being in that
position

least to opponents - Player was involved in active play

65Offside Position vs. Infraction
- It is not an offense in itself to be in an

by one of his/her team, he/she is, in the opinion
of the referee, involved in active play by - interfering with play

66So whats the answer?
Neither A nor B should be penalized for
offside. Although B is now in an offside
position, he/she should not be penalized unless
he/she becomes involved in active play. Lets see
what happens next.
