Recipe for Church Success

• What's the key to success in life? Vince
  Lombardi knew about success in football.
• Lombardi's philosophies were hard work,
  perseverance sticking with the fundamentals.
  He would start the first practice session by
  picking up a football and saying, "This is a
  football."
• If we are going to be successful as a Church, we
  have to focus on the fundamentals.
• The Church in Acts had a great thing going. The
  apostle Peter preaches a great sermon and 3000
  are saved.
• But this is just the beginning. Through the book
  of Acts we see phenomenal growth. Acts 247
  44 514 67 931 1121 24 165 1712
• How can we model that success? What are the
  fundamentals we need to focus on?
• In Acts 242 - 47 Luke gives a summary of the
  actions of the Church after the Day of Pentecost.
  Verse 42 mentions the church was engaged in four
  ingredients for success.

• THEY DEVOTED THEMSELVES TO THE APOSTLES TEACHING.
• What is the "apostle's teaching"?
• The selection of a replacement for Judas (Acts
  121-22) is interesting.
• To have been with Jesus from the beginning of his
  ministry
• To be a witness to His resurrection.
• We as church must be faithfully teaching and
  studying God's word.

• THEY DEVOTED THEMSELVES TO FELLOWSHIP.
• A good definition of fellowship "Participating
  together to achieve a common goal". (Eph
  44)
• The early church had a sense of "community"
  unity oneness. (Acts 244-45)
• Fellowship means being together and working
  together for a common good.
• Are we ants or scorpions? Gal. 515

• THEY DEVOTED THEMSELVES TO THE BREAKING OF BREAD.
• How is the Lord's Supper an ingredient for church
  success?
• Has it ever occurred to you that one hundred
  pianos all tuned to the same fork are
  automatically tuned to each other?

• PRAYER
• We need to recognize that if we are going to
  accomplish anything, we cant do it on our own.
• Prayer was the lifeblood of the early church.
  Acts 423-24

• The book of Acts sets out a recipe for success.
  It is the same for us as it was for the early
  church. It begins with commitment.
• Commitment to the apostle's teaching.
• Commitment to fellowship.
• Commitment to the breaking of bread and worship.
• Commitment to prayer.
