Title: Worship: In Spirit and in Truth
1Worship In Spirit and in Truth
2John 4 23 "But the hour is coming, and now is,
when the true worshipers will worship the Father
in spirit and truth for the Father is seeking
such to worship Him. 24 "God is Spirit, and
those who worship Him must worship in spirit and
truth."
3In Spirit, or in attitude
(Prov. 2923) A man's pride will bring him low,
But the humble in spirit will retain honor. (Ecc.
78) The end of a thing is better than its
beginning The patient in spirit is better than
the proud in spirit. (Mt. 53) Blessed are the
poor in spirit, For theirs is the kingdom of
heaven. (Rom. 1211) not lagging in diligence,
fervent in spirit, serving the Lord
4In Spirit, or in thought
(Jn. 1321) When Jesus had said these things, He
was troubled in spirit, and testified and said,
"Most assuredly, I say to you, one of you will
betray Me." (1 Cor. 53) For I indeed, as absent
in body but present in spirit, have already
judged (as though I were present) him who has so
done this deed. (Col. 25) For though I am
absent in the flesh, yet I am with you in spirit,
rejoicing to see your good order and the
steadfastness of your faith in Christ.
5In Truth, or correctly
(2 Jn. 14) I rejoiced greatly that I have found
some of your children walking in truth, as we
received commandment from the Father. (3 Jn. 14)
I have no greater joy than to hear that my
children walk in truth.
6In Truth, or sincerely
(Phil. 118) What then? Only that in every way,
whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is
preached and in this I rejoice, yes, and will
rejoice. (1 Jn. 318) My little children, let us
not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in
truth.
7True Worship Always Involves Both Spirit and Truth
(Josh. 2414) Now therefore, fear the LORD,
serve Him in sincerity and in truth, and put away
the gods which your fathers served on the other
side of the River and in Egypt. Serve the
LORD! (1 Sam. 1224) Only fear the LORD, and
serve Him in truth with all your heart for
consider what great things He has done for you.
8Spirit and Truth are Equally Important

25An Unbelieving Visitor
1 Cor. 14 24 But if all prophesy, and an
unbeliever or an uninformed person comes in
26An Unbelieving Visitor
1 Cor. 14 24 But if all prophesy, and an
unbeliever or an uninformed person comes in
What he would think 24 he is convinced by all,
he is convicted by all.
27An Unbelieving Visitor
1 Cor. 14 24 But if all prophesy, and an
unbeliever or an uninformed person comes in
How he would feel 25 And thus the secrets of
his heart are revealed and so, falling down on
his face
28An Unbelieving Visitor
1 Cor. 14 24 But if all prophesy, and an

What he would do 25 he will worship God and

- The Mind What we think
- The Emotions How we feel
- The Will What we do
This is logical Something that makes us think
can change the way we feel which motivates us to
act

us to act
