When Worlds Collide
  • The battle between physical and spiritual man

3
The Nature of Man
  • Carnal/Fleshly Side
  • Spiritual Side
  • A Mind to Rule the Both

4
Pride vs. Humility
  • For some, Humility comes more difficulty that
    others.
  • It is important to understand what God thinks of
    the proud or arrogant.
  • Lets take a look at what the Bible has to say
    about the proud.

5
Pride vs. Humility
  • God does not appreciate the proud.
  • But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God
resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the
    humble. (James 46 KJV)
  • Pride comes from the heart of man
  • And he said, That which cometh out of the man,
that defileth the man. For from within, out of
the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts,
    adulteries, fornications, murders, Thefts,
    covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness,
an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness All
these evil things come from within, and defile
    the man. (Mark 720-23 KJV)

6
Pride vs. Humility
  • Pride leads to condemnation
  • Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he
fall into the condemnation of the devil. (1
    Timothy 36 KJV)

7
How to fight against pride
  • Respect the elders and become a servant to
    others.
  • Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the
elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another,
and be clothed with humility for God resisteth
the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. Humble
yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of
God, that he may exalt you in due time (1 Peter
    55-6 KJV)
  • Learn to be humble like a child
  • Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this
little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom
    of heaven. (Matthew 184 KJV)
  • Realize the outcome of vain glory
  • Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking
one another, envying one another. (Galatians 526
    KJV)

8
Sin vs. Righteousness
  • Sin, being attractive, leads to strong temptation
  • The body is hard to control
  • We must decide whether to do things that are
    appealing to us

9
Sin vs. Righteousness
  • Some things about man are very hard to tame
  • But the tongue can no man tame it is an unruly
evil, full of deadly poison. (James 38 KJV)
  • Before becoming a Christian we were in sin
  • Among whom also we all had our conversation in
times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling
the desires of the flesh and of the mind and
were by nature the children of wrath, even as
    others. (Ephesians 23 KJV)

10
How to fight against sin
  • Learn not to love the world
  • Love not the world, neither the things that are
in the world. If any man love the world, the love
of the Father is not in him. For all that is in
the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of
the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the
Father, but is of the world. (1 John 215-16 KJV)
  • Direct the attention of our mind to good things
  • Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true,
whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things
are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever
things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good
report if there be any virtue, and if there be
any praise, think on these things. (Philippians
    48 KJV)

11
How to fight against sin
  • Bring out bodies into subjection
  • But I keep under my body, and bring it into
subjection lest that by any means, when I have
preached to others, I myself should be a
    castaway. (1 Corinthians 927 KJV)

12
Excess vs. Moderation
  • There is such a thing as too much of a good
    thing.
  • Many activities are not wrong by their nature but
    our approach is wrong.

13
Examples of Excess
  • DRINK - And be not drunk with wine, wherein is
excess but be filled with the Spirit (Ephesians
    518 KJV)
  • FOOD - Be not among winebibbers among riotous
eaters of flesh For the drunkard and the glutton
shall come to poverty and drowsiness shall
clothe a man with rags. (Proverbs 2320-21 KJV)
  • DESIRE FOR MONEY - For the love of money is the
root of all evil which while some coveted after,
they have erred from the faith, and pierced
themselves through with many sorrows. (1 Timothy
    610 KJV)

14
Fighting against excess
  • Live a live of moderation
  • We dont have to have the biggest house, the
nicest car, the newest style of clothes or the
    finest foods .
  • Care for your body and soul
  • What? know ye not that your body is the temple of
the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of
God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought
with a price therefore glorify God in your body,
and in your spirit, which are God's. (1
    Corinthians 619-20 KJV)

15
TIME
  • One of the biggest problems today.
  • Often God is left out of our lives because of
    time.
  • How we use our time is entirely our decision.

16
TIME
  • Our time is short and we must make good use of it
  • Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow.
For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that
appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth
    away. (James 414 KJV)
  • God expects us to grow over time
  • For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye
have need that one teach you again which be the
first principles of the oracles of God and are
become such as have need of milk, and not of
    strong meat. (Hebrews 512 KJV)

17
How to use our time
  • The Bible instructs us to use wisdom
  • Walk in wisdom toward them that are without,
redeeming the time. (Colossians 45 KJV)
  • We must simply make time for God
  • DANIEL DID - Now when Daniel knew that the
writing was signed, he went into his house and
his windows being open in his chamber toward
Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times
a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his
God, as he did aforetime. (Daniel 610 KJV)
  • JESUS DID - And in the morning, rising up a great
while before day, he went out, and departed into
a solitary place, and there prayed. (Mark 135
    KJV)

18
How to use our time
  • We must prioritize what is truly important for us
and make sure we are spending time attending to
those things. What things are at the top of our
    list?

19
Tools of Spirituality
  • Worship
  • Study
  • Prayer
  • Meditation
  • Fasting
  • Fellowship

20
Questions to ask ourselves
  • What other battles do we face?
  • Are we winning the battles or losing them?
  • Are we defending ourselves well or do we leave
ourselves and susceptible in our battles?
  • What can we do better or where can we improve?
