• Big and Little too

My God shall supply all your need according to
His riches in glory by Christ Jesus (Philippians
419)My family was heading along the road one
Friday morning to attend the church worship
service, when we felt the wagging feeling along
the way. A tire has gone flat. As we moved to
the service road and started to figure out on how
we will change the tire suddenly a police car
stop next to us and two big guys jumped out,
assessed the situation and cheerfully helped us
to change the tire. Thank God my family reached
the worship service on time, and later on we
realized that we are not following a simple tire
check up before driving!The preaching has been
delivered to a small congregation. We might think
God is too busy in large and more important
things than to be concerned about a flat tire.
But His promise to provide the needs of His
people covers little things as well as big
ones. God cares for small thing- He is the
same God who helped Elisha to find the missing
barrowed ax head (2 King 65-7).- He is the one
who supplied food for the faithful widow (1 King
178-16).- He provided the wine at a small town
wedding (John 21-10)- He meets our needs
daily. Think back over the past few days and see
how the Lord took care of some minor problems in
your life? Has He solved some small bombarding
problem? Has He provided some simple answer to
your question? Thank Him! For everyday is an
unfolding grace and love we received, truly that
He provides big and little things for those who
love Him.If God paints the sky in azure hue,
Will He not then care for me and you?

• The Joy of a True Servant

The world and perhaps our own human instinct will
always dictate us that the key to happiness is by
getting what we want, to be served by others and
to experience greatness in everything in this
world. But God actually offers us more than
happiness, He wants us to receive and experience
joy!One of the most important features of a
joyous life is by becoming a true servant of our
Lord Jesus Christ and this was exemplified in the
life of apostle Paul. It is interesting to note
that while Paul writes his letter to the church
in Philippi, he was at a very depressing
situation, being imprisoned in Rome, he was
alone, lost all his privileges and was highly
criticized by his enemies and yet he was able to
speak of joy and rejoicing in the whole four
chapters of Philippians.In Philippians chapter
2, Paul speaks of his joy that came through
serving. He clearly understood his calling and
his purpose of being a servant of the most High
God. Here in this chapter, Paul speaks of a very
important truth on what God has done for all of
us. Jesus, the Son of God came into this world to
give his life and to serve us! -Who being in
very nature is God but did not consider equality
with God and taken the very nature of a servant
(Phil 26-7).Like apostle Paul who has found
the true joy in serving, even to the point of
death, may we all accept the challenge of
answering Gods call to be His true followers and
servants. May we also learn how to truly serve
one another as what God has instructed us to be.
True joy and greatness can also be found in
servant hood. When we all finally realize that
our calling is to serve, then we can expect our
lives to have an irresistible impact on this
world.

• Happy in the Lord Jesus

Now when he saw the crowds, he went up on a
mountainside and sat down. His disciples came to
him, and he began to teach them, saying Blessed
(happy) are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the
kingdom of heaven (Matthew 51-3)The book of
Matthew open the ministry of Jesus towards his
attitude on the law, it shows his interpretation
and how to respond to it. Jesus stated his stands
concerning a life attitude that pleases God and
at the same time pleases the person who will do
it. For Jesus, the position, authority and
prestige is not important in His kingdom-what
matters in His kingdom is how we faithfully obey
God wholeheartedly. The sermon on the mount
challenged the proud, self righteous and
legalistic people in His days and exposed their
mistakes on their interpretations. The sermon
still takes the reality of today where people
place theirheart in the things they thought will
make them happy.What makes the people happy
today?a. People depends on pleasure and
prestige to make them happyb. People depends on
their position and author1ity to make them
happyWhat makes the Christian happy today?a.
Christians are happy because God loves themb.
Christian are happy as they follow JesusHere we
find the two basic sources of happiness one
offered by the world and other offered by God and
the truth is Worldly happiness is not permanent
for it will not last and gives no pleasure to God
while Happiness from God will last and have no
bound and we as a believers must be wise always
to follow what could bring pleasure to our
Lord.Be like Jesus, this I long, in the home,
in the throngBe like Jesus, all they long! Im
to belong!Definitely I would be like Him!

• The Wise and Foolish Builders

Have you ever come to a point in your life you
wished your decisions in the past would remain
just that..... a thing of the past? Foolish as
it might sound, most often than not, we wished
for the hands of time to turn back.Perhaps if
we would be given a second chance we would be
able to do better. Such big words.....do better.
If we would continue to just rely on our strength
and our abilities, we could never do better, much
less become wiser.In the parable of the Foolish
and Wise Builders (Mathew 724-27 / Luke
647-49), the former could be commended for his
effort to build his house. In our world, we could
translate this as a disciple who takes the effort
to listen to the Word of God, and memorizing each
and every passage in the Bible.It's like having
several volumes of different encyclopedias in our
heads. We know so much about the scriptures that
we could quote every passage there is in the
BibleSad to say, sometimes we even use passages
from the Bible to win an argument. But it's not
enough that we know passages of the Bible, or
that we listen each Friday to the sermon being
preached. If we would like to become a better
person, we must be like the Wise builder. The
wise builder did not just memorize or listen, he
planned and built his house on solid rock. He
laid his house on solid foundation, on Jesus
Christ, his character.What is so distinct in
the character of our Lord, Jesus Christ, that it
is wise to build our character, our house on
it? OBEDIENCE!!! His time on earth was one
obedience after another to the will of our Father
in Heaven. In this world, we will always be
subjected to all kinds of storms. There will come
a time when money would be scarce, a loved one
would pass away, we would lose our jobs, we would
have broken relationship, etc.,. But, if our
house is built on solid rock, if we are wise
builders, we will endure the test of times. In
spite of the storms, we can be joyful, we can
still count our blessings, we can still give
forgiveness, we can still be obedient. We will
be like our foundation, Jesus Christ, obedient to
the Father for we know HE IS IN CONTROL.

• Learn from the

Dear friends, I am not writing you a new command
but an old one, which you have had since the
beginning. This old command is the message you
have heard. (1 john 27-8a)

• MASTER

One of the oldest teachings in the Bible is
love, it started since the beginning until the
day of Jesus. Why love is never an ending
expression of Gods affection to His people?
Because as a human being we associate to people
around us, in our home, in our work place, on the
street and in the church. The people we use to
meet can either uplift us or hinder us in our
spiritual growth and because of these reasons
Jesus expressed the importance of love to one
another as he personally command it to the
community of believers, it is also a warning to
us in choosing our friends, what relationship to
avoid and what to pursue. Here are some tips to
share your love. a. Find a Close Christian
Friend. A true Christian friend will help get
through in times of trouble, a person who will
not abandon you in times of distress. A friend
who validate the meaning of Gods love. b. Avoid
Relationship That Could Cause You to Sin. Bad
company corrupts good character. Choose friend
who are morally upright, knows how to control
tongue, humble, compassionate, not compromising
person but fears God. c. Look for Friendship
that Honours God. A person who walks in the
precepts of Christ, filled with the Holy Spirit,
a person who teaches us to be more closer to
God Wisdom of Jesus when talking about love
will not stand by itself when we do not learn to
love or even not consider how to practice it.
When I knew some truththat is information, but
when I exercise itthat is wisdom! Open my eyes,
that I may see wondrous things from Your law.

• Finding Happiness

I just want to be happy! Many a times we find
ourselves preoccupied with this sentiment. We are
always looking for something or making plans for
things that would make us happy. We always think
that when we finally attain the things that we
want to achieve, they wouldthen produce the
endless happiness that we have been looking for.
I remember the first time when I finally
achieved my dream of working abroad. Following a
years working experience in Manila after I
graduated from university, an opportunity knocked
on my door to work in a luxury ship based in Hong
Kong. It was the happiest moment of my life when
I set foot on that very huge passenger cruise
liner! I knew that I will be working as a
croupier but I never had the idea of the place
that I will be working. The ships interior can
be compared to a 5-star hotel and one would never
think that they are in a ship when on board! The
first few months working in that ship was indeed
the best experience I could have imagined during
those times, but gradually, there was a strong
feeling of loneliness and conviction in my heart
that the kind of work I have and the place where
I am, was not the one that was meant for me. That
was the time when I encountered God in a deeper
way and eventually, my heart and my mind agreed
that it was the time that I need to leave that
job. I was no longer happy. Happiness can be
an elusive thing. There were also many times in
our lives that as soon as we finally see that our
cup of happiness is full, people, things and
unlikely events will suddenly come our way
unexpectedly and turn things upside down.

Finding Happiness continuation
In The Sermon on the Mount, our Lord Jesus Christ
has given us a picture of happiness in a very
different way. Jesus began the beatitudes with
the phrase, blessed are, which practically means
happiness or deep joy. Blessed are The poor in
spirit Those who mourn The meek Those who hunger
and thirst for righteousness The merciful The
pure in heart The peacemakers Those who are
persecuted because of righteousness You when
people insult you for the sake of Jesus It is
very important for us to truly understand how
Jesus described His perspective of happiness.
The beatitudes may be the exact opposite of what
the world dictates, but developing the very
character that Jesus prescribed will guarantee
achieving that happiness that we have been
looking for. All of us still have unfulfilled
dreams, the world will also continue to impose
its standards of happiness upon us but I pray
that we will all continue to develop into the
kind of person that God wants us to be and
receive the blessings that He desires for us to
achieve.

• MY FRIEND WILL HEAR ME

• WHEN I CALL

For since we were restored to friendship with
God by the death of his Son while we were still
his enemies, we will certainly be delivered from
eternal punishment by his life. So now we can
rejoice in our wonderful new relationship with
God-all because of what our lord Jesus Christ has
done for us in making us friends of God. (Romans
510-11 NLT) Some people says Friendship is
more meaningful than any relationship, that is
why counsellors used to encouraged the people to
maintain it in every relationship for friendship
is based on mutual understanding, it can have the
openness to one another without fear, they can
exposed their witnesses and yet the others are
prepared to dealt with it. The business in
friendship is to know each other, the more they
know each other the more trust they can give.
Business also in friendship is communication, the
more they talk the more they become close.
Another business in friendship is to help one
another were this is the basic proof of loving
one another. How enemies treat each other?
First, they are not concern to one another and so
they will not listen to one another. Second, they
will talk with hypocrisy and put some hidden
agenda on every deal. Third, there will be no
peaceful solution in their agenda. Being a
friend of God is an assurance that He will hear
us when we call upon his name because it is His
desire to be with us, for friends have the
enthusiasm to know each other when they talk,
they are excited and love to hear from one
another and they are willing to extend their hand
for help. for answered prayer we thank you,
Lord We know Youre always there To hear us
when we call on You Were grateful for Your care

• One Step at a Time

4 So Abram left, as the LORD had told him and
Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years
old when he set out from Haran. 5 He took his
wife Sarai, his nephew Lot, all the possessions
they had accumulated and the people they had
acquired in Haran, and they set out for the land
of Canaan, and they arrived there. 6 Abram
traveled through the land as far as the site of
the great tree of Moreh at Shechem. At that time
the Canaanites were in the land. 7 The LORD
appeared to Abram and said, "To your offspring
a I will give this land." So he built an altar
there to the LORD, who had appeared to him.8
From there he went on toward the hills east of
Bethel and pitched his tent, with Bethel on the
west and Ai on the east. There he built an altar
to the LORD and called on the name of the LORD. 9
Then Abram set out and continued toward the
Negev. Genesis 124-9 Some Christian are
panicking or becoming nervous when they heard the
word Obedience to God, they will try to avoid
the issue or make some alibi so as not to be
confronted by that word, and it is so hard for
them to move on for they can see a huge task
ahead of them. In Genesis 124 God spoke to a man
name Abram and ask him to follow Gods word as
the Lord had told him to do. Abraham knew that
his faith is not a cloudy one, but he doesnt
know at first on how to do the first step of
obedience, but he knew that he needs to, he needs
to do it carefully and surely and not by running
around and make himself busy showing to God that
he is trying his best to follow him.

One Step continuation
When Abraham left the city of Ur, this became his
first step of faith towards obeying God but one
step of faith always leads to another, and
another, and another, maybe it will take months
or even years to travel but it doesnt matter, he
is convinced that he needs to do the first step.
Progressive obedience is not forceful but by one
step at a time like what Abraham did, by
following one step at a time! Genesis 12
narrated his steps heading to his

6 Abraham traveled through Verse 8 Abraham
moved on Verse 9 Abraham moved on from place
to place Gods desire for Abraham and to us is
that the principle of faith should operate
throughout every part of our lives progressively.
He wants us to trust and obey Him, not only
spiritually but also with our daily lives. Being
a follower of Jesus, we can say that business is
good but obedience is always the best for the one
that pleases God. Step by step where moving

"Then God said, 'Yes, but your wife Sarah will
bear you a son, and you will call him Isaac. I
will establish my covenant with him as an
everlasting covenant for his descendants after
him." (Genesis 1719) Many Bible names reflect
the person's identity, often describes important
facts about one's past and hopes for the future.
The choice of the name Isaac (means 'he laughs'),
for Abraham and Sarah's son must have created a
variety of feeling in them each time it was
spoken. At time it must have recalled their
shocked laughter at God's announcement that they
would be parents in their oild age. On the other,
it must have brought back the joyful feelings of
receiving their long-awaited answer to their
prayer for a child. Most important, it was a
testimony of God's power in making His promises a
reality. Isaac's life bridged the lives of his
two graet family members Abraham his father and
Jacob his son. Written below are some significant
facts about Isaac as it is also connected to his
family. a. He was a miracle child born to Sarah
and Abraham when she was 90 years old and he was
100 years old. Indeed a miracle child! b. He was
the first descendant in fulfillment of God's
promise to Abraham c. He displayed great
patience and been rewarded. Many Christians do
not know the meaning of their names and their
lives as well until they met the Lord Jesus who
brought them to the family of God, where they are
now part of the covenant which has been given to
the father of Isaac, that through the faith of
Abraham we will also be blessed just like
Isaac. Have you seen the meaning of life through
Jesus?

• CURSE TO BLESSING

Has anyone heard of a person who spent a lot of
times in the ditches or pits of life and yet
he knew how to take lemons and make a lemonade
out of them? Such a man was Joseph. The life
story of this man is a study of trials, yet it is
also a study of Gods timing and purpose in our
lives. It is a study of how what seem to be
curses can become blessings. In our journey
through life, we undergo various trials. We spend
a lot of times in the pits or ditches. Trials
happen to everyone, no one is immune to it not
even us Christians. If truth be told, Christians
suffer a lot more trials in life because we are
tested for our faith. Whos makings are these
trials that are placed in our lives? Some trials
are of our own making. Sometimes we will walk
right into those that God would rather we dont
go into, but remember He has given us free-will,
so He will not interfere. Free will is what
separate us from all of Gods other creations.
So, God will not interfere with our free will.
Sometimes, we just do plain stupid things when we
take things into our own hands! Look at
Joseph! Some trials are God given for a
purpose. Some trials that we have to undergo
maybe what God wants us to go through so he can
make the preparations in our lives and in the
lives of others for the fulfillment of the plan
Hes given us. In short, He has a purpose for it.
If we read Romans 828 we might get a glimpse of
how God plans for His purposes. It says 28 And
we know that in all things God works for the good
of those who love him, who have been called
according to his purpose. Some trials may be
caused by the Enemy, the Devil. 1 Peter 58 - Be
self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil
prowls around like a roaring lion looking for
someone to devour.

Curse to Blessing continuation
Yet most of the time though, these trials or
situations are simply a combination of all three.
We dont need to be reminded that our God is
all-knowing and all-powerful. He already knew
about some of the dumb decisions, or choices we
will make even when we are just hatching them in
our minds. God is already aware of the enemys
plans to derail or side track us. Sometimes the
situations that we go through are a combination
of our own choosing and His allowing it so that
we will not only learn a lesson but also so that
He will be glorified. God uses circumstances in
our lives that may seem to be curses, but He uses
these for a purpose. Trials are not just
something to endure, but are preparation for what
God has for us. He may want us to grow in
character, to mature as He did to Joseph. Often
times the young in age and those still young in
Christ would rather skip the preparation time
needed in the Word and immediately get immersed
into Gods service and falter half way though
because of immaturity. God has a purpose for the
trials in our lives just as He had for
Joseph. But what we do with the trials in our
lives, how we react to them, influences or
determines also how long we will stay stuck in
there. We only have two choices when we come to
situations in life We can grow or we can choke!
We can give up or we can give more. God gives us
trials but it will be up to us to make something
of it. He surely has a purpose for it, but how
we deal with it counts a lot. What do we do when
we are handed lemons in life? Should we let them
rot, or should we make lemonade? Joseph made
lemonade when he was given lemons and the curses
in his life became blessings. God blessed him
because he did not compromise his integrity and
his relationship with the Lord.
