Course Objectives
  • The course is designed to enable you to acquire
    a working knowledge of basic sociological
    concepts and principles of sociology and how they
    are used to offer understanding of the process of
    social change.

  • In this course you will be exposed to the rich
    diversity in rural society, changes underway in
    rural places, and to current social issues and
    problems.

Course Objectives
  • The course focuses on the United States in a
    global context and explores the interconnections
    between rural/urban and local/global economies
    and cultures.
  • Rural issues cant be separated from broader
    patterns of social change and issues facing all
    societies.

Requirements
  • 1. Two Exams worth a total of 60 of your grade.
  • 2. In-class assignments, and activities spread
    throughout the semester comprise 40 of your
    grade.
  • 3. Regular attendance is expected and necessary
    for your success in the class.
