Handicamp Norway
  • Name of the project since 1976
  • Has become a Brand name for Rotary Norge
  • Received award at Convention i San Antonio 2001
    Outstanding task force project
  • Was introduced at Convention i København 2006
  • Was introduced at instituttet i Lillestrøm 2007
  • Haraldvangen i Hurdal has been official camp site

Our goals for the camp
  • To integrate fysical disabled og non-fysical
    disabled youth through sport og other spare time
    activities
  • To build international friendship and
    understanding
  • To teach the participants about Norway and the
    Norwegian society
  • Each participant shall go beyond their limits,
    make the impossible possible.

Recuirements to be accepted to the camp
  • Age 18 28 år
  • Have to understand english, which is the language
    of communication
  • Must have a fysical disability
  • Must have a helper, normaly one, but some may be
    in the need of two

Composition of participants
  • A fysical disabeled and a normal person make
    one team
  • The normal person will act as a helper for the
    disabeled
  • They should know each other very well
  • Communication between the two must be well
    established before they arrive at the camp

Invitation/recruiting
  • Invitation to the camp i 2008 was sent
    electronicly to all YEOs in the world and DG-s in
    sone 15 og 16
  • These people should spred the invitation to the
    clubs in their district
  • The participants do not need to be a Rotarian or
    come from a Rotary club, but we wish to establish
    a connection between participant and local club
  • Intake and finishing process is time-consuming
  • Visa questions

Management tasks
  • Plan the operation within the goals and framework
    given by NORFO
  • Send out invitations to the camp
  • Select the participants
  • Organize all correspondance with the participants
  • Organize transportation
  • Order and arrange for transportation, equipement
    etc.
  • Contact the clubs that sponser the activities

Activities
  • Length of stay 2 weeks
  • 8 days with activities shared between
  • moring-, afternoon- and evening sessions
  • Rotation everyone should have an offer to
    participate in all actvities ? teams
  • The teams are responsible for the Evening
    program, one evening each
  • 2 days with excursions the whole day
  • Norwegian Night
  • Carnival
