• Most important place to start in any speech is
  with your one minute core message
• What is your catch phrase or slogan
• This should become the center of your longer
  speech
• Triangle Model
• Story
• Helps explain the core message
• i.e a boy has leukemia
• Context
• Whatever your speech is about you have to set the
  context so that the audience understands where
  this fits into the larger picture
• Fact
• Does not necessarily have to be a figure or
  percentage
• Should be attention grabbing

• Everyone in the group then created their own
  triangle with a core message

• Style is about more than what you wear
• Good use of the word you
• Connects the audience
• Law School is the icing on the cake of your
  liberal arts degree
• Food analogy is too vague
• Dont know what this means exactly
• We want to change this so that it says that law
  school will be the compliment that will make her
  education more whole
• Liberal arts trains you how to think, Law School
  trains you how to advocate
• In pairs we went through the exercise of story,
  fact, context so that we could better express our
  core message
• You have a limited amount of time to make a
  difference
• Story after 9/11 I reevaluated my college
  experience which made me connect with Hillel

• Where do you start you speech? Core message,
  story, fact, or context
• It is a personal choice
• Start in a conversation mode
• Work the speech off of your own conversation
  style
• Talk to the audience like you are having a
  conversation with them, not like you are reading
  a speech to them
• Ums and likes and you know what Im saying is
  not that important
• Most important is that you are in conversation
  mode, talking about the things that you are
  passionate about and the message will be heard
  clearly
