Title: Proposed Commuter Rail Plan

1
Proposed Commuter Rail Plan
  • The first public meeting about the
    Houston-Galveston Area Councils recently
    released Regional Commuter Rail Connectivity
    Study was held last week.
  • The study proposes five baseline routes for
commuter rail transit one paralleling SH 249,
one along US 290, one along SH 3 to Galveston,
one along SH 35 to Pearland and one along Almeda
Road (FM 521), which would then turn west through
the middle of Fort Bend County.
  • The primary complaint has been the proposed
routes lack service to Sugar Land, The Woodlands,
Kingwood, Bush Intercontinental Airport and Hobby
Airport. More routes would be added later.
  • Read more about the proposal by visiting
    http//www.hgaccommuterrail.com/docsmaps.htm
  • This is still a draft proposal so contact Alan
Clark with H-GAC (alan.clark_at_h-gac.com) if you
    have any questions or comments.

Craigslist Reminder
  • More reports have come in about fraudulent
listings on the craigslist Web sitethis time in
    the Houston market.
  • Jeff Ehling with KTRK-TV Channel 13 did a
report about the issue last week.
  • Several different scenarios are taking place,
including listing homes for sale in the MLS as
being for lease on craigslist and stealing the
prospective renters deposit money when they show
    up to view the property.
  • One tip is to make certain that all of the
windows on your properties are lockedwise under
any circumstances. One suspect is believed to
have pulled up the REALTORs yard sign, entered
through an unlocked window and actually changed
    the locks on the house.
  • Check the craigslist site to see if any of your
listings are posted without authorization on the
    site.
  • If you suspect that an item posted for sale on
craigslist may be part of a scam, please e-mail
the details to "abuse_at_craigslist.org". Be sure to
include the URL (or eight-digit post ID number)
in your message. Also, call the police in your
jurisdiction to notify them as well.

Selling Stat
  • Service matters. While many REALTORS might
think that lower fees will help them land more
clients, the stats do not show this to be true.
Only eight percent of sellers surveyed said fees
charged would be more important than the service
    provided.
