3What is a Program Grant?
- A specific fund set aside, along with
Contingency, during the FEB process. It will
serve as grant funding to any non-FEB student
organization for a specific event that has a
campus-wide impact
4Program Grant vs. Contingency
- A Program Grant goes towards a student-centered
program that benefits the JMU campus - Contingency is used for smaller programs or
internal group use its benefits are not as
far-reaching
5The benefits of Program Grants
- Provides a middle ground between FEB and
contingency for groups who cannot meet FEB status
but also need more than contingency offers - Allows non-FEB groups to put on FEB-like events
- Encourages group to plan long-term for big
projects
6Eligibility for Applying
- SOS recognized club in good standing for at least
1 year - Program enhances student life
- Program diversifies campus
- Program cannot be a fundraiser or produce profit
for a club - Program is endorsed by advisor
7The process for requesting a Program Grant
- Groups requesting a Program Grant submit a
proposal of event, a set outcome for event, the
organizations budget, budget for event, and
marketing plan for publicity to the Student
Services Committee of the Student Government
Association at time of request
8Perks of Co-Sponsoring
- Programs sponsored by 1 group can receive a
maximum of 5000 - Programs sponsored by 2 groups can receive a
maximum of 7500 - Programs sponsored by 3 or more groups can
receive a maximum of 10,000 - A limit is set by the Special Advisory Commission
at the beginning of each semester as to how much
money will be allocated that semester in grants

- A lump sum will be set aside for the group for
the following semester, but each group will need
to go to Paula Lam to fill out Departmental
Purchase Orders (DPOs) to purchase their goods - After event, the group will submit a report of
the impact of the event, the events
expenditures, the overall success of event, etc.
through a formal report
10Timeline
Day after FEB Night Groups submit proposal for
upcoming Fall and/or the following Spring
Semester (same fiscal year)
3 weeks before Thanksgiving Groups submit
proposals for upcoming Spring Semester
1 week before Thanksgiving Program Grant Night
for Spring Semester
2 weeks later Program Grant Night for Next
Academic Year
Spring Semester Ends
Fall Semester starts
