  • Italys capital is Rome.
  • The official language is Italian
  • The climate is highly diverse and can be the
    stereotypical Mediterranean.
  • The population in August 2007 was estimated
    59,448,463 people.
  • Ancient Rome was a civilization of farmers
  • Roman civilization changed from monarchy to a
    republic and then democracy.
  • The city of Rome grew from settlements of Latin
    tribes and Sabines.
  • The Sabines tribes was derived from Spartans.

  • The king was the head of the state religion.

  • Julius Caesar
  • He was born in 100 BC in Rome.
  • He was a legendary Roman conqueror, he was a
    military and political leader.
  • He learned many languages like Hebrew and so many
    dialects.
  • Caesar received his education in Rome and Rhodes.
  • The first triumvirate was formed of three
    leaders.
  • Caesar introduced many reforms.
  • In 59 BC Caesar was elected consul.
  • He did many public works, also he protected the
    commerce and industry.
  • On 15 March 44 BC he was assassinated.

  • Romans believed in gods from Greek society like
    Zeus, Neptune, Mars, Ares, Poseidon, etc.
  • Christianity began to spread in the Empire
    despite initial persecution.
  • Christianity with time was converted to an
    official religion in Rome.
  • Methodology
  • The legend, Rome was founded on April 21, 753 BC
    by Romulus and Remus.
  • Rome and Remus were raised by a she-wolf. Romulus
    killed Remus in a fight about who would keep the
    throne of Rome.

  • The first period -- imitations of marble and
    masonry that described mythological characters.
  • The second period -- about three-dimensional
    architectural features and landscapes.
  • The third period -- simple ornamentation.
  • The fourth period --had scenes from mythology and
    also described Roman victories.
  • The music was used in public and religious
    ceremonies.
  • Games and Activities
  • Romans played jumping, wrestling, boxing, racing
    fishing, hunting and handball.
  • Another entertainment was gladiatorial combats.
  • Animal shows were also popular with the Romans.
    They combined animal shows with gladiatorial
    combat.

  • The Tower of Pisa a freestanding bell tower of
    the cathedral of the Italian city of Pisa.
  • It was built in 1773.
  • The tower had various renovations.

The pantheon
  • The Pantheon, from Greek meaning temple of all

    domed structure in Rome.
