2What Is It?
A 6 weeks study abroad class taken on the campus
of Brunel University in England. It involves
lectures (and credit) in two subjects, one a
basic materials class (required by Ag E, ME, Con
E, IE, Aero E and Mat E, tech elective for
others) and one in US Diversity (required by all
engineers). Also includes trips to industries
and cultural sites as well as opportunities for
travel on your own. Open to all engineering
students on a first come- first serve basis
(although Mat Es get preference).
3What You Study
Introduction to Materials Science. Substitutes
for Mat E 272 required by Ag E, ME, Con E, IE,
Aero E and Mat E, 300 level tech elective for
others (our class is 3 credits).
Womens Role in Industry. Taught by Prof. J.
Kleinberg of Brunel University. Counts as a
3-credit U.S. Diversity Class.
By living overseas for 6 weeks you satisfy the
International Perspectives Requirement (not the
credit requirement).
4Where is Brunel?
- Uxbridge is on the west side of the London
suburbs, just inside the M25 Orbital.
Uxbridge is on the last tube stop, 45 min. from
downtown London.
5Where You Live - The Flats
Course fee provides housing in 5-6 bedroom flats
as well as some trips and instruction costs.

Date 1st Saturday in June - mid July (runs for
6 weeks) Cost 3800 for summer 09 (pay
a portion of tuition, must pay fees) Covers
