Title: Mr. Foscolos trip to the United Nations

1
Mr. Foscolos trip to the United Nations

2
In his most recent trip to the United Nations,
Mr. Foscolo met with Secretary General, Kofi
Annan.

3
Secretary General Annan insisted that Mr. Foscolo
sit in on that days UN meeting regarding
geographical information gathering for the UNs
database. The remarks, lead by Thabo Mathibedi,
stated the UN was in need of more Geographical
information of many countries.

4

The UNs panel on Geography agreed with
Mathibedis remarks and asked for any volunteers
in a Geographical Fact finding mission on various
countries. The UN would like for the reports to
focus on the 5 major themes of Geography and how
they relate to the country.

5
Surprisingly, no volunteers stood up in the
entire UN to take the task.

6

Kofi Annan then spoke up and said, Wait!!!
.... Mr. Foscolo, you are wiser than any of us
here at the UN when it comes to Geography! Can
you help us with our report, or better yet, can
your 6th grade students???

7

Your Task Help out the United Nations!!! Each
student will need to explore a major them of
Geography. The five major themes are LOCATION,
PLACE, HUMAN/ENVIRONMENT INTERACTION, MOVEMENT,
AND REGIONS. The first student will report on
Location. He/she will write on such information
as absolute and relative locations of major
cities and points of interest. The student who is
to report on place will discuss all major
landforms and waterways located within the
country. The student who will write about Human
interactions will discuss what types of climate
and phenomena occur within the country and ways
in which the country copes with it. The student
who reports movement will talk about the major
roads, canals, and airports that exist within
the country. The final student will discuss the
region in which the country is located and the
biome that corresponds to it. The project itself
will take 2-4 class periods. The students will
collaborate to put all of their research together
in a booklet to be submitted to the UN.
